Hello, not sure where else to ask this favor of someone but here it is. Since building the new system I have no idea why CapFrameX frame time variance (FTV) analyses have gone into the toilet, and I have no explanation.  My old 9900k/3080Ti delivered fabulous FTV, but since the new build that's gone out the window!  If you have the hardware I would ask you to...

  1. You will need RTSS, and would need to NOT use frame generation for this test, and would leave all syncs and frame rate locks in sim or in NVCP off, and instead use RTSS' 'edge sync, front of back' along w/ its Passive Waiting, both of which are found on RTSS' settings tab.  This we learned 18 months ago delivers the best possible FTV of any method, and that equates to best subjective animation/video quality.  Set the frame rate lock in RTSS to 40fps, again, don't use Frame Gen.
  2. Use the wonderful freeware program CapFrameX to do a short capture, maybe 5 minutes worth, of any flight using a demanding plane at a demanding airport.  If you need to trim back traffic to sustain that rate of 40 please do.  You could do the capture from start of taxi to shortly after TO if you will.

To show you what I'm talking about, here's a capture of FTV from the prior build, in fact this was done w/ the RTX4090, but w/ the 9900K.  I didn't keep the line graph but you can tell from looking at the pie graph it was a nice very flat line, whereas in the capture below not only is it full of big spikes but it's baseline looks like massive static, or is picking up the cosmic background radiation!

I'm wondering if this is a built-in issue w/ 7800X3D, it's V-cache, or what have you as I have no other guesses at this point, and hence why I'm hoping someone could test this out for me.  Many thanks in advance!

Which windows build do you use?

Are you using Msfs Beta as well?

I'm on the latest windows 11 23h2 build and since done that update from 22h2 windows 11, I got exakt those spikes also.

It's related to a specific windows KB503.......update.

My hardware is 7900x3d with 670 Asus board and water-cooled 4090 rtx.

Before updating to that 23h2 latest build....my performance AND smoothness was just fluid as it could be. After the update.....a Desaster.

Fascinating thanks for that Marcus.  Win 11 23H2.  Do you have that high frequency baseline like is shown on the second screenshot I posted?

Is it possible it's just native frame gen?

It is native frame gen, what it's supposed to be as I don't use DLSS FG.  Just curious if this intense static line is happening for all X3D users or not, the one you clearly see in the 2nd screenshot above.  That never happened w/ 9900K using CapFrameX.

Thanks Eef, but it's not frame rate or other "performance" issues per se, it's the Frame Time Variance capture in CapFrameX.  Sounds like MS knows about this so will hold off on chasing a solution to the issue you posted about since it will very likely be address by MS and probably soon.
