May 10, 20242 yr Taking into account that AI services are not cheap (for now), we should not blame SayIntensions for the price they set. 2 quotes from FAQ:How much does it cost? $29.95/mo or $295 for a year. However, the price of AI services drops every few months, and we will pass those savings on to you when it happens. Why do you have to charge a subscription fee? Because we're using modern, cutting-edge AI services, neural networks, insanely authentic voices, and machine learning, costs are incurred every time you communicate with ATC. Any ATC service that offers their product for a one-time fee isn't using AI. Don't be fooled by claims to the contrary.

I agree. especially in light of the FREE airport navigator plugin that exists for x-plane that also provides voice taxi instructions, including taxi way names. the voice quality is probably not as good, but quite acceptable and their "AI" magic is absolutely free. they just didn't think of calling it "AI".but if you consider yourself a "rockstar" and Steve Jobs ... 🤣 Edited May 10, 20242 yr by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

It’s my only hobby actually and I spend at least 100$ per month for scenery and airliners. But for 30$ a month it would have to be real life ATC and not ChatGPT no matter how good it is (and it’s far from good enough now to be worth 30 dollars). For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
May 10, 20242 yr I think that this agreement that SI has struck with Navigraph to be able to use the taxiway data is excellent news. I'm also quite enthusiastic about the taxiway editor they announced on the same stream that will allow SI users to crowd-source updates to the taxiway data. This has the potential to provide updated information even for those people who aren't Navigraph subscribers. As for the subscription price; I understand it's steep and doesn't represent "good value" for everyone. But for me, I looked at the annual price (US$300) as being in line with what I was willing to pay for a PilotEdge subscription which confined my flying to the Western US. For the same annual price, I can now fly anywhere in the world and at any time of the day. Yes, PilotEdge's ATC is better than SI's at the moment -- it's real people after all --- but SI improves every day and has certainly reached a level of accuracy and stability that I find to be acceptable for my purposes. So I simply re-allocated my annual PilotEdge budget to SI. YMMV.

May 10, 20242 yr I have not tried them I just purchased Beyond ATC I will give that a shot and see how it goes for the rest of the year. I already invested in my home simulator I would consider Say Intensions next year unless I totally do not like Beyond ATC. May 10, 20242 yr Unfortunately I only see the US (which is great) but the world is bit bigger then that, so curious about Europe... Pro-ATC-SR has already done this and using Navigraph Airac data end the price difference is huge between the two. Nice to have AI generate ATC but would like to see/hear the rest of the world. André

May 10, 20242 yr My post from the other thread for those following this one: If you want to see how real world ATC works, watch one of Matt Guthmiller's TBM videos. It is definitely not scripted nor "on rails". PilotEdge, using real world controllers and a limited geographic scope, are the only simulator ATC service that can currently provide this level of accuracy. SayIntentions is attempting to provide this level of ATC to the whole geographic globe. It is a very ambitious project. The pricing structure of PilotEdge and SayIntentions are very similar. It is not cheap to provide real world ATC to the simulator. SayIntentions has a better chance of lowering the costs however. If you never wanted to try PilotEdge or tried it and didn't like it, you are probably not a part of the market for SayIntentions (no matter what their final price or capability will be). If the majority of your sim flying is tubeliners to big airports, scripted ATC such as BeyondATC, Pilot2ATC, etc are great solutions. If, however, you fly GA VFR or IFR you will not be satisfied with many of these software. (Pilot2ATC is the best of this bunch for GA VFR but still not able to handle all the real world possibilities in VFR flight). My humble opinion, vote with your dollar and quit whining about cost if the solution doesn't match your practices. Thanks for listening to my TED talk.
