Hotas Warthog Dual Throttle Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Following my latest reinstall of P3D 5.3 all is working well except for my TM Dual Throttles.  My TM Flightstick works as always.  Both are setup via FSUIPC with P3D controllers disabled as I've always had them.  In the cockpit the stick can be seen to move the yoke as expected, but the TM throttles have little or no control of the cockpit throttles' movement, while the aircraft runs wild.  Buttons work ok, so the device is not invisible.  I've hooked up an old Ch Throttle as a test.  Given it's limitations, It works as expected.  I've never needed any driver software, but installed the TM drivers now.  They didn't help.  Any help will be much appreciated!

Are the throttle responses normal over the full range when calibrating with FSUIPC?

Have you tried testing the throttles within P3D by enabling P3D controllers for this purpose?  You could also try downloading Diview and testing the throttle response with that software.

If responses are erratic it could be a cable issue. I don't use the warthog, but does it have a removeable usb cable?

Hi, John.

Thanks for your prompt response.  This has been a nightmare for a very old and hardened Simmer!

The responses of the throttle have been normal.......+16xxxx to -16xxxx

I tried enabling P3D controllers.  The throttle was recognised but the calibrate button didn't work.

The cable is fixed to the throttle.

I plugged the cable into a different USB port - no difference.

In desperation I went back into FSUIPC, and setup the throttle axis direct to FSUIPC once again.  This time, after setting max at +16xxxx (or whatever), when I pulled the throttle fully back I got a zero.  I settled for a range of  0 - +16xxxx, went back into the cockpit, and the throttle there moved in unison with the TM one.

I've never  before seen a calibration range go down to zero, rather than a large negative sum, but I accepted it, and setup a flight.

I taxied out to the runway with perfect control, climbed out to cruise at N1 of 90, and am now heading LEIB-EGNT.  To me this is the weirdest of solutions, but for now it seems to work.

Thank You once again, Jim

Pleased you got it to work. Good luck with it from now on.

Just a thought, did the TM Throttles calibrate and axis displayed in Windows hardware calibration correctly?  Perhaps it has been limited by Windows?

Spoiler

My specs:  Intel i5-4690k 3.5gHz oc to 4.4gHz, 32 gb DDR3 @ 2400mHz, RTX 2060 11gb, Windows 10, P3Dv5.4 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. It's getting along in age but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

I thought Windows only calibrated monitors. I did try enabling controls in P3D5but the calibrate button didn't work, so I only calibrated via FSUIPC.  When I accepted a calibration of  0 to 1+6xxxx the throttles worked as they should, but I now have a huge null zone, leaving only a fraction of travel for input.  I can live with that but it's less than satisfactory for sure.
