Not sure what error you get but the mod changes your host file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) which is a Windows core file that can be exploited by virus and malicious software, so if you have some security software on your machine set up with a high level of protection, it might well be that the file is protected against any changes and that would would prevent the tool from working.

Pretty sure that is what it is. Trying to get the anti virus to let it thru, but this computer is blocking me. Every changes I try to make is greyed out. Keeps treating me like an outsider.

It's in Austria, near Zeltweg (LOXZ, the airport is still partly bad because it's a different layer from the ground textures but there's an addon for it i think), i remember having a flight near there a few months ago and I was shocked by the bad quality of the terrain so it's one of the first place i tried with the 'enhancement tool'. I also tried a few places in China where the improvement was big. We could have hoped MS/Asobo would have set that map provider as default since it's still their Bing provider, not sure why they keep stuff hidden .. maybe they keep it for v2024 😱

Maybe you have the safest PC on the planet so it's a positive discovery 😜 ... joke aside yeah it's a bit annoying when your PC blocks stuff and you can't figure it out, if some options are greyed out, maybe you need to log in the PC as a real admin if you have that info and if your user account does not have full admin privilege, well it's obviously very difficult to help with that as every PC has so many different settings possibilities 🥺

Another benefit I've just discovered with this mod, is that the live imagery with 'Latest Bing' now matches the Sky4Sim Map as well as that uses a Bing Key to gather the Map directly from Bing, which is of course the latest and not "old" like default MSFS.

So what's the general consensus here ? Pg off or on ?

I think you can leave it on but with a modest TLOD like 200.

EDIT:  Trying out Bing Latest with the latest version of the app and liking it so far.  Load times seem faster also.

EDIT:  Tried the Latest Bing but still an ARCGis fan for where I fly.  (Western US / Canada)

I began using it when it first came out and really liked it.  Then they changed it and came out with this new version and my computer won't let me run it.  I get this same hosts file message given in your response.  I've tried everything. Run as administrator.  Found the latest version, etc.  I have Kaspersky virus protection and the page where it shows this mod says "allow".

I sure would like to have it, if anyone knows what I need to do.

Try to drone around Courchevel airport too (after having disabled the snow of course)... colors are much more natural with the mod (Bing latest high LOD) compared to the flashing greens of the default textures.

Wow. I thought the title of this post was some sort of joke but I kept seeing it pop up with more replies. Thanks for telling us about this. I've just been using the Google Maps imagery. A question: does photogrammetry on/off here mean that I won't see 3D cities in game, or just what image tiles is loaded from the server?

Ok so I gave this a try today and I am absolutely blown away by the quality of bing maps latest. Looks like a different sim. Makes me wonder why asobo have not incorporated the latest data into the SIM yet ?

If I remember correctly they said in a A&Q that they were going to update the imagery for MSFS 2024. I assume they will then also update 2020. 

What remains to be seen is whether the resolution will be the same as with the mod / in Bing maps. At the moment it seems somewhat blurrier than in Bing maps.

Just installed the app on both MSFS pc’s and took a look at the Netherlands.

I had to set red to +3, contrast to -10 and saturation to +10 to get a scene that matches multiple pictures from the Netherlands from above. 

The latest Bing map coloring is imho by default a little to dark and has to much contrast. But that is how it looks on my displays where everything is configured to make the default Bing map look as good as possible ( in my vision )…

I thought that until I realised I had grass and bushes turned off in VR. I enabled and have compared EGHP Popham airport with and without the mod and I'm seeing grass in both instances.
