29Palms - LGSR - Santorini Airport & Island

Installing the latest graphics drivers is not always the solution. Sometimes earlier versions work better.

This is a known problem in MSFS; please make sure to run the latest drivers and try to disable Windows Hardware Acceleration.

Hope it helps! I have also sent a link to the developer, but I'm not sure if he can do much about this since the satellite imagery is mostly default.

Re. 29Palms LGSR purple tiles ... uninstalled payware - does not occur when using default scenery?

I have exhausted a long list of attempts to resolve this issue and after extensive testing have come to the conclusion there is an issue with the payware scenery

So is this a no go? does it occur with everyone? I was looking forward to purchasing it, but not if there are unsolved issues.

I haven't noticed anything yet.

i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2

I haven’t seen pink tiles before and I’m using lots of payware. With this scenery I’ve seen them twice already. So most definately it’s something with the scenery.

RE- Purple tiles. I did notice this a couple of times (out of dozens of times loading the scenery) when making the video. However, as soon as I changed views and returned to the problem area, the purple tiles were gone.

We have received reports about the purple tiles, and the developer, Emmanuel, is currently investigating the issue.

While it does not affect everyone, we are working to understand the cause and determine if any part of the scenery contributes to the purple tile problem. This appears to be one of those perplexing issues where these tiles show up in areas that only have default satellite imagery.

Cheers,
Lars

Hello everyone,

After a long and persistence investigation we managed to find out and correct the part of the scenery that causes the purple tiles issue. However, we are not in a position to fully determine why it does not affect all users but very few (according to the reports we receive). The new version will be shortly available as a free update, along with some other minor corrections. This version according to our tests will also significantly reduce or even eliminate some stutter reported by other users.

I would very much like to thank @slicker55 for his contribution to the above investigation and solution. Being one of the first customers reporting the issue, he kindly volunteered to test all the "new versions" (maybe more than 30) until the solution came up.

Regards,

Emmanuel

Not the best scenery in my opinion not optimised too well and the buildings look badly textured.

@manwlo, I don't remember suffering from the purple patch thing, but thanks for your efforts and also for posting about the fix.

When this scenery first came out I was intrigued, but did my usual thing of checking the default first to see what that looked like. It (the default) was a lot less densely populated, so I checked on Google Earth, which also showed it a lot less occupied. So I wasn't going to buy the scenery as I didn't like the look of the building there - it seemed way too "packed in" in places. But then I went back to Google and noticed the imagery was around 13 years old, and on checking some of the posted photographs of the place I could see that it was indeed as crowded as you'd made it. I guess Bing's imagery is of the same vintage, hence the look of the default.

So, much as I dislike the look of all the development that seems to have gone on on the island in the last decade, I figured I can't blame you guys for that, and bought the product! Very pleased with it, thank you.

Thanks, Emmanuel. This scenery is very much on my shopping list for the near future, so it is good to know that the purple tiles issue has been resolved.

Just wanted to report that v1.0.1 has been released on Contrail (excpected on Aerosoft tomorrow, Tuesday)

This fixes the purple tiles issue and should also bring improved performance.

Cheers,

It’s quite nice. The only thing that‘s rather annoying is the water creeping up the cliffs in the distance, which is a sim limitation and not the dev‘s fault, of course. I hope that will finally be solved in MSFS 2024.

Have not noticed «the water up the cliffs» yet in 2024, so it seems solved on my end:)
