How does Flysimware C414AW compare to the steam gauge overha

Featured Replies

Since Flysimware C414AW Chancellor is on sale I have been thinking about getting it. But I would like to know how does it compare to the similar steam gauge overhaul planes like Baron 58 and analog King air ?
I am mainly thinking about depth of simulation and realistic behaviour. The C414 is cheapest for now but could it be better to pay a little more for an overhauled plane. What Pro and Cons could be stated for these planes ?

One more vote for the C414.  As far as twins go, I'd say it is a tossup between the the Piston Duke and the C414.  Both are great.

PS. The FSW Lear35 is an awesome plane and a hoot ta’ boot!  Get it too if you can.

My opinion is the C414 is much better than the other two you mention.

The main differences are the sounds and flight model are superior.

If you want to try a BlackSquare aircraft, I'd suggest one/both of the Dukes.

I have never used the black square Baron after I got the 414

and I love Barons

The 414 is very good.  I prefer the dukes over it but I prefer the 414 over the baron.

The dukes have a lot more systems.depth too.  I'd say the 414 has a slight win over the dukes for interior textures.  Both have superb sounds.

The Baron and King Air use default exterior sounds except for a few extra turbocharged stuff - the interior sounds are all custom though and very good on all black square products

One thing about the overhauled planes stated features I find very interesting is

  • Working carbon monoxide detector
  • Mathematically accurate VOR & ADF signal attenuation and noise, and remote compass gyro slavin

Does the C414 have anything like this ?

Maybe not, but it has a way more pilot friendly Garmin autopilot, which is more important to me.

If I understand you correctly you mean that the Piston Duke are better then my two mentioned overhaul planes and also about as good as the C414.
Why the Piston Duke and not the turbine one ? And what makes the Piston Duke better than my suggested overhauled Baron and King Air ?

In one review of the FSW C414 a glitch with elevator trim was mentioned. First no reaction at all then a sudden (too) big response. Do you recognise that ?

No. I was a day one “early access” buyer and put hundreds of hours in plane since.  I’ve never experienced such an anomaly nor do I recall such a discussion on the FSW discord. There is always a lively discussion there and it might give you more comfort with the plane.  Good luck and don’t forget the L-35 at checkout! 😇😇😇
