I wonder if this will light a fire under PMDG to do a 787.

I don't see this changing anything with PMDG. Bluebird has been working the 757 for 3 years and still haven't given any indications or hints on a release year, at least I haven't seen one. From all the planes and expansions they have on the list, PMDG will have already released the 777, Max, and 747 products before we see Bluebird is even ready for 787 development. At least with a PMDG product we know what were getting. Bluebird is still unknown.

Bluebird announcing a 787 screams "dev trying to 'claim' an aircraft in hopes it will dissuade someone else from doing it". Please finish your 1st aircraft before announcing a 3rd.

ooohhh yeah.....that 787 will come out along side the ini A350, FBW A380, the MD11 😂

I don't understand how someone that has yet to release one (!) single aircraft thinks he should announce the aircraft that comes after the aircraft that comes after the aircraft that has been in development for three years with no release date in sight. Surely going to be a snail race between PMDG, Bluebird and Qualitywings for the 787! And in the end it will be iniBuilds releasing one for x-mas this year 😄

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Don’t see it happening anytime soon based off the 757 development. They still have the 767 and then all the expansion packs. We stand a better chance of PMDG doing a 787 before BB can put one out.

The hopeful part is that systems-wise there's a tremendous amount of commonality between the two aircraft.

Once the 757 launches the 767 should come (relatively) quickly afterwards.

Sorry for being that guy, but apart from the cockpit and common type rating the 757 and 767 are way more different in terms of systems under the hood than is commonly thought. I guess for Bluebird it depends on how deep they go into the systems.

Ok lets not assume PMDG is making a 787 nothing is in concrete from them on their next product announcement.

I am sure it is. But i'll believe it when I see it...."due to MSFS 2024 code changes, we're going to only release the product for FS24, and it'll take some time to work the bugs out."

They are talking abut developing the 777X after it releases in October 2025.

I don’t think PMDG will release a new plane any time in the 2020’s. They’re busy just recycling the same 3 planes on different platforms. That’s their business model. I would love for them to do something way out of left base — like working with Gulfstream to actually have a licensed G800. I won’t hold my breath.

I’d love a study level 727. I still love old iron, particularly if it’s as old as me 😜. However, I’m kind of hesitant to buy from FSS as their RJ has been in public beta for 1 1/2 years.

Beyond me why developers keeping releasing different versions of 787's, A330's and A320's. Enough already. Give us the A350.

Money

I hope we get an update from Black Square. Including a possible roadmap with what is planned.

What I really want is the Black Square Boeing 737-400
