Sorta off-topic, but does anyone know if Lockheed Martin even showed up to FSExpo this year?

They're not on the exhibitors list: https://flightsimexpo.com/partners

And it's no suprise, considering that John Armchairpilot isn't exactly the primary audience they're catering for.

ticked off

Where are you getting "ticked off" from? I'm entirely amused that E3 (yes, that's the one...forgot the name) was cancelled and within days asobo announced their arrival at Fsexpo. That they even had to be "asked" is also 100% amusing. What I did originally state was that it was a good move for LR to keep quiet at this year's expo.

The first time I went to the expo was its 2nd year (maybe 3rd?) before they ditched Hartford. I remember the Oculus CV1 demo set up in the main museum hall. This was before LR made VR native. VR has come a long way. I'm looking forward to LR's take on that aspect of the sim.

It's never not been a golden age of flight simulation. I'm not surprised that you see things differently and that your ability to enjoy the sim waxes and wanes. I have no doubt that the upcoming missions elsewhere will be key in helping you stay attentive to the hobby.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

But let me start with a story. Back in 2014, I was working on King of Thieves. The soft launch of the game was a disaster. Nevertheless, in the following months, we managed to improve the key metrics of the game dramatically. Day-1 retention rate rocketed from 26% to 57%, and Day-7 retention improved from 9% to 32%. We also managed to make great progress on the monetization front: LTV was up more than 25 times compared to the first version of the game by the time of the global launch.

actual retention for a typical "not disaster" is in the graph further down

These topics are deadly boring, it feels like being on an accountants forum. 🥱

Zitat

they must be really unsatisfied as they spent "only" $$ 20 million on add-ons in the market place alone, not counting the additional sales outside of marketplace.

with over 15 million users of MSFS, how many million roughly have changed to xplane because they are "unsatisfied"?

mind to support your claim "as seen many times"" with facts or is this just an opinion with no proof nor foundation whatsoever.

even if only 10% were "unsatisfied", this would still leave 1.5 million desperate MSFS-to-Xplane converts for Laminar. 🤣

I agree, if you don't enjoy the discussion then just move on, start a new topic and leave the people who want to discuss to discuss. Plus, I think all accountants in the world are now offended

You start reading a topic about the FSExpo and then after less than a page and a half you are only allowed to read numbers and are then told that if you don't like it, start a new topic. And whoever made the topic offtopic, like many others before, that's completely fine. I'm also a mod on a forum, but I haven't experienced this yet.

Started off as a topic, ended up as an argument of people with meaningless, unconfirmable numbers.

People in this thread clearly want to talk and debate about this (and so far it's remained 'mostly' respectable). Shutting down topics because somebody finds it boring is not, hence you have the simple option of not reading further and moving on to something that interests you.

Sometimes threads even started with some kind of "statistical mindset" as if the OP was a financial manager or the kind, showing numbers like copies sold, total or even per time unit, bring me the thought of how easy it would be to consider McDonalds the Best Restaurant in the World and Noma a residual player...

And I do like McDonalds !

Yeah,

The message they are always trying to send is those who shop at Cartier should go buy their watch from a big box store like Walmart instead. But I am like this, McDonalds may sale more hamburgers in the billions, is not going to stop me from going from going to the Ritz Carlton for lunch. What matters to those who seeks the quality of fidelity of flight who many look to in what X Plane has to offer is what's important. No different than people who go out of their way to find the best sound system or pick the best yoke or even the best quality VR headset. Many feel that larger market with the most numbers may win the day but it's those products the possess the best quality even some that are more expensive that will most always win the day of the hearts and minds of the beholders.
