Genuis Jorg Neumann, the biggest name in Flight sim history

Featured Replies

Jorg Neumann could just be the biggest name in Flight sim history.
Incredible what he has done for the industry in just 5 years.
Just had to share my thought as I watch stream from Vegas.

Just impersive how he connected all the companies that had grown to hundreds of employes. Gave chance to small single developer companies. Incredible!

Bravo Jorg and thank you!!!!

What I like most about Jorg is that he is a humble guy. I have never heard him bash the competition, and from my understanding, when the competition released a new version, I read from other accounts

  • So why are you here then? (Genuine question)

It’s sad to see only one mention of the person who started it all. The concept of a flight sim program running on a home computer was devised by Bruce Artwick. His naming of the files used surviv

While I appreciate Jorg for sure, and think he's a great leader for MSFS, I think the real impact is Microsoft itself. When a trillion dollar company decides to do something, they have a LOT of resources to throw at the problem. We are seeing the results of 5+ years (MSFS development started a while before they announced publicly) of sustained investment. The market has responded - smaller companies and individuals can thrive and have successful careers, bigger companies can do R&D and invest in developing hardware and software, confident that MSFS will not just disappear in a year or two.

When MS left the flight sim space, the hobby instantly became a niche, populated mostly by the die-hard enthusiast. Unfortunately, for a company like Thrustmaster to develop a new yoke, say, the addressable market needs to be larger than just a niche. As soon as the player base grew, individuals, small teams, and large companies alike responded.

A rising tide lifts all boats is very true here.

He deserves his flowers for sure. We're lucky to have someone in charge who has a very positive attitude that allows him to think outside the box.

Just remember pre-2020 we thought P3D was it for Flight Simming and out of nowhere MSFS2020 was announced so yes, he deserves a lot of credit and so does MS and the entire team.

Absolutley, credit where credit is due, Jorg and also Seb have transformed the landscape (a pun if you saw every detail in thier presentation!) of flight simulation. Fair dues to them, MS needed some persuasion I am sure and they brought in the players in their Millions (huge amount via XBOX, as slightly annoying that is sometimes) And so the rewards are being reaped and we are having an Expo like no other.

Jorg and Seb ar Germans.  In other words nothing is good enough,  Ask my mother.  lol

Jorg for President (USA)! 😁

Have to agree. From Bruce Artwick to Jorg Neumann and the incredible 3rd party developers this has been one hell of a ride.

Every good tree produces good fruit. Looking at the product and the huge community around it and how it has all come together, I would say Jorg is a good tree.

Yes the tree the branches and the fruits..PERFECT Analogy...

Yeah, I’ve said many times, we’re lucky to have someone who combines pm skills, commercial sense, aviation awareness, persuasiveness, and a genuine love for the hobby at the helm.

Oodles of respect for him.

Flight sim is going to quickly get to 25 million simmers (and gamers). And that is due to Careers / Activities which will bring a lot of casual for fun users. And that will help fund the franchise going forward. The guy is responsible for this vision and it's success.

No, I think PMDG's RSR deserves that title.
