I picked this sentence to quote, as for me, the biggest drawback of TLOD 50* is that the runway is blurry.

Interesting.  I see the center line of taxiways get blurry maybe 100' out from the nose of the plane when TLOD is low but the rest of the runway looks fine, and I can live with that since near the plane the centerline remains sharp.

  • TLOD every time. I want to see the world. A lot of the time I don't bother with AI traffic, unless I'm planning an exploration around a major airport. Usually I can get away with my standard TLOD plus

AI traffic, at least some, that are believable. If you take off in a completely empty world, I don't see the immersion in that.  Where in this world are you the only plane in the sky ever?

It IS a lot smoother using 36FPS limit and lossless on x2 resulting in a total of 72FPS on top of AutoFPS and FG, but the input lag is just unbearable.

The problem with that is, if you fly somewhere with mountains, like SLC or LOWI, the mountains look like melted ice cream.

Well, SLC or LOWI are far from being big hubs, no need for AutoFPS reducing TLOD down to 50 in such places...

With a second generation Ryzen and an Nvidia 3060 I have limited options, but with the Frame Gen and AutoFPS mods I get very satisfactory results when running the following:

FSLTL Traffic (set to max), FSR, BATC, FS ATC, FSFO v5, MSFS2020 Enhanced Maps. I run MSFS at 2560x1440 with a mixture of Ultra, High and medium settings and get an average of 50FPS. EDIT: I forgot to mention, I also stream every flight using OBS

Capn P did you do your XMP and HT testing yet? I'm finding the sim super smooth since. Before I was getting 22-28 before fg now I'm often at the locked 30.

My weighting is 75/25 olod /ai 😎

I did, should be a video out on my channel. 11% fps increase (more smooth too) with XMP on HT off. 17% increase with XMP on, HT off and a CPU overclock.

Did you do a comparison between xmp on HT off and xmp on HT on? I'd love to see the exact impact of HT! I COULD do it myself but I'm not on the same level as you with in depth comparisons!

I'll look for that video!

HT + XMP off. HT on XMP off. HT off XMP on. Interestingly, HT off resulted in a significant performance decrease. Might not happen on all systems though.

(EXPO/SMT are the AMD equivalents of Intel’s XMP/HT)

Top man! Yes I was wondering if the talk about modern CPUs having the internal tech to assign workloads correctly was accurate or just talk. I'll stay with HT and XMP (Intel) on then!

Thanks for doing the testing for the rest of us :D

I would try with HT off, you might get a bit more performance by doing that.

Yes that's what I've been using. Although had XMP off for 3 months after that firmware update.

Working nice and smooth now in other games too.

Sorry, typo, I meant HT off. But things might be different with your CPU. HT on significantly decreased performance with my AMD chip.

Oh really? Well everything is running smooth so I'll leave it on. 14900F here. I seem to have a good one!
