Hi,

Really broad question- what visual differences would I see between a 1k vs 2k vs 4k monitor in MSFS? Currently have a 3080Ti GPU.

Sharpness! Analogue gauges especially will benefit with every graduation visible. Improvements in airports, ground scenery and clouds will be less obvious.

No point in having a quality graphics card and not using its power. What CPU do you have?

A lot of this can better be answered by knowing what screen size you want.  Bigger the screen, the more the resolution matters.  Of course how far you sit from it applies as well.  This website is helpful in giving you a real comparison of the relationship between resolution and screen size.

Back in my P3D days I was very happy with a Samsung 43" 4k tv that was capable of doing lower refresh rates.  Now I'm running an alienware 38" widescreen at 3840x1600.  I'm happy with it for the most part.  Though widescreen brings its own advantages and disadvantages over a traditional aspect ratio.  Considering I sit right in front of the display I had zero issues stepping down from true 4k.  In fact my DPI actually increased making the switch since I went with a smaller display.
