PMDG have withdrawn P3D products from sale.

I am sincerely surprised they stopped offering P3D products. When I was buying them they cost me a fortune. But I knew I am getting the best planes on the market so I did not mind at all back then, in 2019, when MSFS was not part of the picture. It seems that all developers are dropping support for P3D which is kinda  sad. I was going to be glad for us, P3D users and developers to get new version of the LNAV / VNAV profile, since we are none the less customers towards this service. But I hope this is not permanent change. Otherwise it will seriously doubt my good belief in this products.

Why? They produced the best 737 for P3D. I haven’t come across any serious failings and I’ve flown it for years.

I'm still not clear on how this is doing anything to their customers.  They haven't rendered existing purchases obsolete. They haven't announced they're ending support for existing customers of their

They did the exact same thing when the msfs 737 was released.

It seems that some people were confused and ordered the 737 for the wrong sim. They don't want to repeat with the 777.

Would be a little bit surprising if the P3D products wouldn't be back online.

Yes, the P3D sales of their products might be negligible in 2024 and we don't know for sure the costs associated with such sales. Don't know if it is a problem with costs like Mathijs said or if it the fact that they don't want to deal with custumer service, especially with P3D 6.0

Mathijs answer might be rude but  sorry Ray, you were very insistent in your demands with a lot of messages and it seems with the goal to place twice the Ifly brand in their forums.

Agreed. It is a robust mature product in P3d.

Demands? Hardly. Just requests for some clarity on whether this is a temporary withdrawal or a permanent one. That question wasn’t answered.

Why would I be promoting iFly? I own none of their products.

And I’m pleased you find Mathij’s replies rude. Somewhat ironic given the message in his signature.

Strange. They usually gave some days notice before withdrawing products from sale. That happened when discontinuing FS9 and FSX products. I never liked that policy at all.

Sorry Ray, but I don't see your issues. His reply clearly stated that for now there will be no P3D sales anymore, and that he is not willing to share inside information about company decisions. I found this to the point and not unfriendly or agressive. Either you and I have a different understanding of his replies, or Mathijs edited it by now.

I was lucky in that I purchased the PMDG 747 version 1. That came with a printable manual which I still have today. The first product that PMDG produced for flight sim.The manual is dated 2005 nearly 20 years ago.

For now or anymore? Which is it? Others here and on the PMDG forum have said they do this temporarily when a new MSFS product is released so as not to cause people to buy the wrong version.

So is it a temporary removal or a permanent one? No one has made that clear. To permanently remove products from sale with no prior notification is unhelpful and unbefitting a company of their stature.

Mathij's statement reads "At this moment, we have stopped selling P3D products. We are not sure if they will reappear.". For me, this is quite clear and in line with language used by other developers. They have pulled their products off the store and have no plans to sell them again. "At this moment" is a standard way of saying "who knows what the future brings". If Microsoft pulls the plug on their flight simulator again, then PMDG might come back to P3D, for instance.

I am speculating, but I think the main cost of selling P3D products is not the space on their server, but providing support for paying customers. If they had given notification that they are planning to stop selling their P3D fleet in two weeks, they would have generated a lot of last-minute buyers and would have to be committed to supporting them. Their existing customers probably have sorted out all their issues, except for very few who bought the planes in the last few months. It therefore makes sense not to announce their withdrawal from the PMDG market.

What’s even the point of selling old versions of products for a defunct platform? I believe that most people who wanted to buy the P3D version have already done so. Surely PMDG  has taken that decision based on data and facts.

Let's please not start that again. As Ray stated above there are hundreds of addons being sold to P3D users. A2A still has their products for FS2004 available in their store. Hardly a defunct platform to the people who prefer to use it.

Defunct? Strange as LM are still selling licences. FSL have produced a Concorde for P3D with no indication of when it will be available for any other sim.

Stop this inflammatory talk.

It always amuses me to read comments such as "since we are none the less customers towards this service..." when talking about goods for purchase.
Correct me if I am wrong but PMDG doesn't currently have any subscription-based plans for their catalogue or products. What you buy is what you get - nothing more, nothing less.

Sure, there may be upgrades made within it's lifespan, but if you're purchasing anything without a signed two-party agreement stating further advancement will continue and you'll receive those updates, you aren't due anything further. (This stuff is in the EULA/TOS you never actually read)

I see this in a lot of places, but none more prevalent than in the flightsim space. The concept of "I am a loyal customer because I buy all your products is mainly backed by emotion and the thought that because I purchased product A 20 years ago, you owe me something special for product B even though its a wholly different thing.

Regardless, it's only fair to take MK and PMDG at their word and not make assumptions to their plans for the P3D product line. What we know is what's said. Try not to read too deep into it.

Keep the blue part on top...

For the gearheads: Ryzen 9800x3D | ASUS Rog Strix B650E-F | MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X | 64GB DDR5 6000Mhz RAM | NZXT Kraken x72 Cooler | EVGA 1000 PSU

I don't think anyone here is saying PMDG has a LEGAL obligation to sell their stuff to anyone, but as customers we do have a right to discuss our disappointment in their decisions. Good faith is not legally obligatory, but it is a good business practice, especially when you sell entertainment products that are optional wants and not needs. What more do you have other than the interest and following of your customers?

My guess is its a temporary pause as not to confuse customers into buying the P3D version, who knows.

I along with many others still fly Prepar3d. And after flying the PMDG in MSFS I was considering purchasing the 737 or 777 for P3D. I currently use the iFly737 but I think if PMDG dropped the prices to match MSFS they would get a bunch of people buying the P3D aircraft again. Why not make some money on them, rather then not sell them at all?
