July 6, 20241 yr Good morning pilots 🙂 Approximately a year ago I found out that METAR and ATIS was suddenly no longer available for my Fenix Airbus. There was an update last summer or so and since that day all these features where disabled. The answers I got where in the range of "that doesn´t matter, this is not important, just look on the smartphone for destination airport weather data, the weather data can also be looked upon also in the EFB, press B and the QNH is set automatically..." - but no I insist in flying immersive 😉 which means I want to get a pure raw METAR code send via MCDU. For the QNH and to enter wind speeds before landing. And wow what a surprise, one year later this feature is still not available in the Flight Sim. This time I have tested it in the FlyByWire A320 NEO and now even ATIS is gone too! What is going on with this simulator? What comes next, when tuning in the ATIS frequency of an airport in the radio no more weather report there too after the next patch? I guess there is no chance these classic immersive weather data gathering feature will ever come back, hm? Unfortunately this also renders that awesome printing feature of the FlyByWire Airbus useless getting no METAR send..... P.S. I absolutely recommend the newest FlyByWire A320 NEO. This beast turned out so awesome, beautyful cockpit, all visual bugs from the default Airbus are fixed (like that blackened area around the domelight), and the new FMC V2 introduced a week ago looks very promising! I am so happy I have tested that NEO. A dream! But I somehow miss the old GNADIRS of the Fenix showing wind speed and GPS coordinates on the overhead panel, and the optional analog VOR-DDRMI because that hole in the middle of the instrument board is OCD-triggering and wants to be filled with some nice analog backup gauge. July 6, 20241 yr It's a matter of availability. D-ATIS is only publicly available from U.S. Airports. I checked Klawock from your example. and that one does not transmit any D-ATIS. It does not even have ATIS in the real world. Only ASOS. So the first thing would be to pick an airport that actually has D-ATIS. Like KLAX for example.
