Especially weird because the code in PSXT makes no difference between airliners and GA aircraft, they all get the same SimConnect commands and their lights state info in SimConnect is the treated the same...

I think this is a MSFS issue. From the beginning (4 years ago) there were problems, for instance no lights when in the take-off run, but as soons the aircraft had lift of, the lights appeared...

It would be interesting to hear from a P3D user if their are problems with lights in PSXT_P3D or PSXTraffic_P3D. I would not think so, because P3D has always worked as expected wrt lights. The code in PSXT and PSXT_P3D wrt lights is exactly the same...

Is FSLTL doing it in the same way as PSXT?

The difference is that FSLTL aircraft are real AI aircraft (with a state) handled by the MSFS engine, while PSXT aircraft are (dumb) aircraft objects, completely controlled by PSXT.

P.S.

Again, in my test this morning (in the dark)  I do not see problems with the lights...

That's really strange because for a long time ( as in over a year or two) I've experienced the problem of aircraft taking off with no lights which then turn on when they become airborne.

Have you installed the latest AIG model update? I wonder if AIG may have broken something. If you haven’t updated yet, that could explain why you’re not seeing anything wrong?

When you position at an airport in the dark and watch airliners land the lights are on when they touchdown and during roll-out, or when on takeoff-roll lights are on?

P3Dv5 user here.... 

I am experiencing the same issue as others. 

No lights, only when parked at the gates. I get the odd flickering now and then but mostly just remains off. 

I did not experience this in other versions only noticeable since 7.8.5.

Not seems to be MSFS issue because it works before any MSFS update.

I use MSFS with PSXT and FS TRAFFIC + IVAO AI. I can say both AI have same lights pb as reported before. 

If it was MSFS issue, FSLTL should have same issue but not. 

I have plenty of planes around me by night (EGLL Traffic) but can not see them.

May be you can test here Nico and report back if you have same issue there.

one important thing I notice here :

VATSIM traffic keep the lights. not PSXT traffic.

Here is a short (cropped and low resolution) video to try to fit within the confines of file sizes. In it, you can see a largely dark scene (just now, KJFK at 0000 local on 31-July) where lights come on very briefly every 10-15 seconds. There was a plane sitting on the apron just outside of the cropped view I had created that had its lights flickering on and off every 3-5 seconds, but I didn't capture it.

 

I have reinstalled all of my AIG models and verified its setup.

I am attaching the log file got PSXT, but I can't see anything that seems out of place:

<it would be interesting to hear from a P3D user if their are problems with lights in PSXT_P3D or PSXTraffic_P3D.>

Hi Nico

I noticed something this morning that may help . I had 2 models for the same flight spawn on the taxiway. one had lights on the other with nav lights off. a few seconds later they merged into one unfortunately they now didnt have the lights on. I know we are merging data streams from  different sources and we had ghosting as a real problem. It seems solving the ghosting issue may have caused another.

Just a thought

When there are "ghosts", there are two different objects, eacht with light control. They do not merge, but one is removed. Hence I see no effect on lighting.
