That was the biggest turn off for me but not the main reason I chose the Pico 3, as before at just £170 it's an absolute bargain and having spent more time with it now I'm more than happy. I've just found someone to 3D print a new face plate so my eyes are closer to the lenses (Fresnel lenses don't bother me).

I'll certainly try another advanced Pico one day, but for the near future the 3 is just fine.

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Hmmm, thats a good bit of feedback. OK, I'll look into current delivery times to Australia and see about ordering one. If it doesn't work out, I'll know who to blame 😁

Yes, I too have inquired as to the next shipment to New Zealand.... having been told its September 12th... i know you can get some after market head straps that make the whole thing way more balanced and comfortable... i used them on my G2 and it was wonderful - no head or neck strain even after several hours...

Did you use VD or air link? Initially I also did not like the picture I was getting in Quest3. But after I installed VD, everything had completely changed in a better way. But I also ordered Crystal Light.

I used air-link and the free software it came with. I did not use VD.

I also had health concerns with Wi-Fi radiation, especially since the headset would be strapped to my head for hours.

The results indicate that using a cell phone for ≥10 years approximately doubles the risk of being diagnosed with a brain tumor on the same (“ipsilateral”) side of the head as that preferred for cell phone use. The data achieve statistical significance for glioma and acoustic neuroma but not for meningioma.

They have a 15 day return policy or trial payment.

The Quest 3 fit my face better. The CL is a little wider, so there is a little light leakage. But once it's on it's not noticeable.

I wanted to buy the Bigscreen Beyond, but it has mixed reviews and don't think you can return it.

The only drawback of the Pico 4 is that it has no display port. This is a "streaming" headset, which means that the video is compressed before being sent to the computer by Wifi or USB. This compression can sometimes lead to small video artifacts in some conditions, but it has never disturbed me so far. The Meta Quest 3 is also a "streaming" headset without display port, and it's slightly more expensive than a Pico 4, so I would really encourage VR "starters" to take a serious look at the Pico offering. Might be an excellent choice to start for a limited budget, before switching to a much more expensive headset later on... if needed 😛

When you get into bigger open world games like MSFS in VR the compression is much more apparent in background terrain/object distances. Throwing more Supersampling or TAA helps but it just doesn't compare to the full beautiful image of display port.

My Quest 3 Link USB/VD/Air Link image doesn't look as good as my older Rift S display port image in MSFS. You can really see the difference when it comes to compression.

Sounds like you haven’t tuned your Quest 3 properly,

My Quest Pro with AirLink far outperforms, with better display quality, than my Rift S,

If your hellbent on Display Port the get a Crystal - you may be disappointed with its build quality though…

It's tuned properly at 960 encode bitrate + 1.7 super sampling.

Again the issue is it takes more Supersampling to overcompensate for the non display port HMD's compression degradation. To where as you don't have to run as high of SS for it to look as good as a Rift S display port image with 1.3 SS.

I don't like the overall look of the Quest 3's image over the Rift S period.

It's between the Crystal and the Somniun VR1 my next purchase.

What’s the chance that you’ll purchase the Somnium VR1,

Then you’ll have your Display Port for sure…
