WU 17 Today (Now live already)

The only real embarassing thing is that Asobo obviously saw a need to polish up the trailer. Comparing London Thames to the trailer is remarkably different. Did they learn nothing from the watermask disaster?

or it's just an issue again of them using a difference branch than the release one.

I also noticed in the Q&A some of the preview pictures were using newer Sat imagery than we currently have, specifically I noticed in Farnborough Airport preview.

The current sat imagery has buildings that don't exist anymore, and in the preview images those buildings were missing. Plus the grass was green, and in the sim it's brown.

Probably, but also then you could think they learnt their lession the last time. Obviously not. Embarrassing, and as soon as you write something against the beauty of this WU in the official forums, it is again censored aka community flagged.

Bit late to the party here 🎉 Got a whooping 300 something Mbps by switching VPN locations. Going to disable Orbx London (and Dublin) for now. First flight will probably be in Scotland, perhaps from Sumburgh to Edinburgh (just got V2, yay) in the piston Duke. Hopefully EGPB is not as bad as one of the initial posts in this thread suggested (I'm only up to page 3...).

Excited to test the updated DEM in Scotland and Wales (2m if I'm not mistaken according to latest dev Q&A).

EDIT: Just loaded into EGPB, don't see any weird elevation issues, both runways looks good. Getting quite a bit of coastline morphing at TLOD 100 though. Better at 900, but that's of course not a viable solution in terms of fps...

What's the red thing?

It's a metallic windsock. It takes 70mph wind to move it.

This is weird, I've loaded the update in correctly but I'm at a completely generic EGLC. Anyone else have this?

The red thing is a fog horn, used to provide an audible warning, for when fog prevents the light from the lighthouse from being seen.
Elevation issues at this airport model are most likely seen by those who have a third party version and have not deleted the new Microsoft
(Gaya) version, thus having two active models in the same place.

True. But not funny.

Fog Horns are brilliant!  I had the opportunity to hear one in the UK once, while at the coast on a particularly foggy night.  They have an eerily deep sound, like the harbinger of doom is coming.
The one I heard was a 3 or 4 second blast every 20 or 30 seconds.  Maybe similar to a warning horn on a large ship, but an even deeper sound.

For the one in the picture, if you set visibility to less than 10 metres in the sim, you can actually hear it!
OK... I might be lying about that last bit.

EDIT:  I just found this fascinating video of it...

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Around the midlands areas, Leicestershire where I live they have used bing maps from what must of been that very very dry spell we had as everything is yellow rather than lush green, which is weird to get used to but currently at least flying in July, get to December it'll look down right stupid.... hey ho, is what it is

I hear a loud foghorn when Sharks score a goal in Hockey in San Jose.

Fascinating!

Speaking of other loud sounds, I did some research after seeing this structure near Edinburgh:

It turns out that the 600ft high Longanett power station chimney was demolished in 2021.

I've been very impressed for the most part with the photogrammetry in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Only obvious issues are the bridges and electricity pylons.
