Airport Parking set to 100%

Recommended Posts

The developer mentioned something about not setting the Airport Parking to 100%, but I am not sure what is supposed to happen in this case. I have not noticed any significant problems with performance to date, but I was wondering if the 100% setting will place more than the actual number of planes in the schedule. If that is correct, what setting do I need for the software to place the correct number of planes at each airport?

I am using the realistic static aircraft option.

In addition, I have a problem at EGNS Isle of Man Ronaldsway. The software seems to be injecting lots of planes that have no place at this airport, and at weird parking locations (I will ask the UK2000 developer about that last bit). Last time I loaded the airport, I had a Cargolux B747, Swiss A330, ITA Airways A330 and Virgin Atlantic A330 parked there! These are way too big for this airport, but the entire selection seemed totally random....

Many thanks,

Chris

If you set it to 100% it will try to place an aircraft at every parking position. Then it depends on your settings and the liveries you have available how many positions will get a (valid) model+livery:

  • A setting that has effect is MaxFit. If set to 0, it will only park aircraft that are there in the airport file for the current half hour and current day. Read more in the Manual about what happens if you set it higher.
  • Another one is the matching depth. If you set it to 2, you will only get valid models+airline liveries. If you do not have these, the position will be left empty. You can read about that in the Log.txt file. In the manual and FAQ yoiu can read more about what happens with higher settings.
  • A third one is park soft. If you want aircraft at the right gate only you should not use park soft (see the Manual).

What do you mean by that?

What aircraft file was loaded? Did it show in the UI EGNS Isle of Man UK2000?

EDIT: aircraft => airport

Thanks for the clarification. What percentage do I need to set if I want to see all relevant aircraft in my database at an airport (no more and no less)? It looks like I will need to set MaxFit to 0 (I have no idea what it is currently), Matching Depth to 2 (it is currently 4), and disable Park Soft.

By "realistic static aircraft option", I mean that I do not have a licence for PSXT, so the best that I can do is to get realistically positioned static aircraft at each airport.

I am not sure what you mean by "what aircraft file was loaded"

40 percent will do to start with.

Sorry, "typo", I meant airport fle 😉 The last line in the UI gives you ICAO(IATA) codes of the airport followed by the airport name followed by the publisher.

Or post your Log.txt, the info is in there too.

Can you remind me where the XML file is located? I changed the Airport Parking value to 100%, but I want to change it to 40!

EDIT: I found it.

Can you verify that you have Ground Aircraft density (in the traffic section) in the sim set to 0?

I have noticed that some airports are classed as "stock" when they are actually addons. Is that normal, or do I need to run some kind of utility to scan all of my addon airports?

On a side note, the software did not seem to be placing any static aircraft at all at UK2000 EGPD Aberdeen when I checked last night. I know that Aberdeen has plenty of planes parked on the ground in the early morning, so I am not sure why it was not working. It is also worth noting that using the parameters mentioned above (matching depth 2; MaxFit 0; park soft disabled; Airport Parking 40%) resulted in......not very many planes parked at even major airports. I have a huge database of AIG planes and schedules installed, so the large airports should be packed with planes on a regular basis.

Then they are not yet in the archive. Licensed users get the option to send in the airport file of the addon for offline learning and addition to the archive. Unfortunately that is not the case for you.

EGPD from UK2000 is not in the archive...

Then you should increase these parameters a bit. I use matching 4, MaxFit depending on the quality of the airport file, for good files at 4. Please read more about the Quality factors of airports.

I see plenty of aircraft at major airports. Please this tool makes airporfs  come to live (not empty) , but it is not 100% the reality. With a license it is a lot better because you will have live traffic at the airport too.
