autolanding in fsx

I don't know any 'special facilities' which would be required for autolanding.During an autoland the autopilots starts to phase out the ILS signal below 500-150ft. So even if the ILS would fail at e.g. 50ft, the plane would do an autoland. Theoretically e.g. the 767 can do an autoland on any ILS equipped runway. The 'special facilities' required are related to low visibility operation but have nothing to do with autoland. For CATII & CATIII operation you need runway centerline lights + touchdownzone lights. Plus standby power for the runway lights and a standby ILS transmitter.Regards BerntCapt 767

I guess it is how you interpret "special facilities".As Only certain ILS approaches are certified as Category III, and both aircraft and crews must be certified for Category III approaches and autoland, I interpret that as special facilities. However, never having done one I confess that is about all I know! :-)http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/
