What are the highest fidelity planes currently in the sim?

Featured Replies

Backstory: I'm starting to feel a bit of "choice overload" when deciding what to fly, and decided it's time to de-clutter the hangar (default planes included). Decided to take the Comanche out for a spin, and haven't been able to put it down. The stress it can induce as well as the attention to detail you must have makes flying feel less....well, fake. This made me realize: over the past 4 years, I've bought way too many $hitty planes out of hope, rather than sticking to my guns about fidelity...So now, there's a bunch of 'junk' in the hangar that I'd like to clear out and stick to planes that actually have realistic capabilities. Don't get me wrong, some of these 'bad' planes are a lot of fun! But, they've also conditioned me to not expect much, and be okay with it. I realize that this may limit the types of trips available, but at this point, there are so many high quality planes, there's no need to 'fake it' anymore.

TL;DR: The title

Highly agreed, but I'll go even a little further: I think it IS a plane you can purchase for deep systems, or manipulating switches and buttons.  It's just that a J-3 doesn't have a lot of this, but E

I'm on the fence with this one. On the one hand, it's one of my go-to's. On the other, its not super deep into the systems. I'll probably keep her though, it's still a great plane.

This looks really cool. I like how there's wear and tear simulated. May be worth a buy.

Agreed. Not 100% sure about the MD11 (yet).

Anyone have experience with the CAS J-3, FSS P2006T Analog, OV-10 Bronco, or the Wing42 B247D?

OV-10 Bronco

Bronco is a “fun” plane to fly and has great outside views for enjoying the scenery. I give it a 👍🏻.

I have some experience with the Wing42 B247D... Unfortunately, it had a lot of potential, but it was abandoned shortly after release and Wing42 has gone MIA, so there are few bugs that haven't been resolved and now never will. It still works and is definitely unique, but there are some issues with the systems that are buggy (oil temps etc, if I remember well enough) and those are the very things that will make the aircraft fail and fall out of the sky... So... I have it, but I RARELY if ever fly it. Also, it only has that ancient navigation system and I am not a masochist. With no modern navigation options, it's strictly something I take into the sky if I know my way around by remembering where I am going and what I am looking for.

Thanks. I bought it when it came out because i believed in their business model...initially. BUT i can not, for the life of me, get the word not allowed thing started......not sure if it's a bug, but holy word not allowed, it's near impossible LOL

In addition to the ones posted previously, I can recommend the JustFlight Tomahawk. So much fun and if you do not treat it properly things start to wear down rather quickly. The freeware Cessna 152 is great too but you must have the Premium version of MSFS.

Flightsim rig:
CPU: AMD 5900x  | Mobo: MSI X570 MEG Unify | RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo | GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 | Storage: M.2 (2 & 4 TB) | PSU: Corsair RM850x | Case: Fractal Define 7 XL
Display: Acer Predator x34 3440x1440 | Speakers: Logitech Z906
Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

So many great planes, hard to choose. Here’s my favorites:

Ultralight: FSReborn Sting S4

Piston: JustFlight PA-38, Blacksquare Duke

Turboprop: SWS Kodiak

Airliners: PMDG 737/777, Fenix A320

Military: Blackbird T-6A, AzurPoly OV-10 Bronco

I’ve got a lot more high quality aircraft, just don’t fly them much (personal preference).

In terms of fidelity, from my collection:

A2A Comanche

Just Flight BAe 146

PMDG 737

Just Flight Avro Vulcan

Flysimware C414 Chancellor

I have a load of other enjoyable high quality aircraft, but these are the ones that stand out if fidelity is strictly the only criterion.

Turning into a real picky wna in my old age (hold on its another best plane thread lol!).. so I'm a stickler for realism. I prefer planes that highlight the strengths of msfs not it's weaknesses for that reason.

The 3 planes that have no glaring weaknesses for me are the Flysimware Learjet 35, Blacksquare Grand Duke and A2A Comanche. If you've read my picky post history you'll need no further details than my simple seal of approval on those 😉

Close 2nd are PMDG 737 and Just Flight F28. Perfect except for lack of weather radar in former and weak vor (awful ndb) in the latter.

I fly full realism with all crash/stress damage on even though stress is poorly implemented in msfs. Open a ga aircraft window to defog and plane explodes!

I notice from videos many other great planes that WOULD pass my grouchiness but I just have no interest in their type such as Airbus and any plane with dual tv sets for nav lol. (I respect the buses I just like to manually fly jets a lot is all SO the Boeings give me more control)

Planes I am likely to get are the JF Bae 146, FSW C414 and Tfdi MD11. The only reason I haven't got them yet is I have too similar planes elsewhere.

It must be noted that my favorite sim planes of all time that I still love to fly regularly are NOT in this sim yet. It's ALL about the planes for me not the scenery I'm a sim pilot 1st and sim tourist 2nd!
