My PC is about to have a lot more storage space available

Featured Replies

I don't like venting online because it really does very little and tends to trigger a lot of people. I will just say that I have spent the last few hours trying to install the UK update and the install just keeps getting stuck on a few files (microsoft airport egss is the latest). I have deleted those files, restarted FS, my PC, etc. and I am just not getting anywhere. I really do not understand why Asobo / MS cannot include a decent installation program with this project. It really does appear to be unique to MSFS, as none of the other programs I use have this problem. If I am unable to get this sorted out today I think I am just going to move on. Plenty of other games/sims to mess around with. XP 12 is making a lot of progress so maybe at some point I will give that a shot. I also have the latest version of BMS Falcon installed (went flawlessly of course) so I have a few options.

At least I will have a lot more storage space.

Removed Microsoft airport EGSS from the Official folder and started MSFS. Went into the Content Manager and downloaded all 1.24 GB of EGSS without issue.

I know you already checked this, but do you have enough free space on the download drive?

I love XP12, especially after the latest update. Get the free Sim Heaven scenery upgrade and it is pretty darn good.

Smooth as silk, too!

Yeah, tried that. No go. But thanks.

Hopefully, MSFS2024 will be a lot better and MS/ASOBO will have learned some lessons from the current version.

My main concern is how reliant the new version will be on the cloud when the reliability of MS servers has been so questionable to date.

Goat 1: I've had enough of this field. There's never enough grass, too many of us trying to graze at the same time and it's thin and poor quality too. In fact some of the field isn't even real grass it's just dirt painted green! I'm starting to think this goatherder will never plant decent grass or even knows HOW to!!

Goat 2: Yes but he's opening a new field in a few months we won't need to graze in this one much longer.

Goat 1: A NEW FIELD!!?! WOW.... Day one move for me....

Simmers just wanna sim. Please let us just... Sim!

Say NO to thin clients. They were designed to be used in public areas as kiosks to prevent people from making changes constructively or maliciously. In your own home though? If you want a console like experience and don't use addons then sure go ahead. Your software will be more stable and predictable with less tweaking (if any) required.

You also will have to sim like everyone else so hope everyone else has the same ideas of what a sim /flying game should be about.

This reminds me of the two weeks it took to instal MSFS firstly from Disk and then Download ; absolutely no success so my money was refunded.

Suddenly posts appeared mentioning a Photo Editor that I used called Capture One. I removed that and downloaded again....success!

Have you added any software lately?

This sounds like a you problem not the experience of 99% of people. As for XP12 oh well enjoy that.

the new content manager has a separate tab for Streamed assets, so I have a feeling it will be optional.

This forum is littered with install issues. Stick around a while.

Oh come now millions install MSFS just fine, and I have 3 or 4 times now on different hardware with different OS'.   How old is your total install now?  You might bite the bullet and uninstall all of MSFS (save the Community folder of course) and start fresh.  Takes VERY LITTLE attention to do that as you must know, just takes time while you go do something else.   I clone my total install to an external drive every several months just in case something weird happens so can restore quickly and alas, I've never had to use it.
