5 aircraft you are surprised aren't yet in MSFS.

Featured Replies

I was looking at some pictures of an airworthy North American B-25 this morning. It struck me that here's a very well known and much loved aircraft that's conspicuous by its absence in MSFS. Which others do you think would be obvious aircraft to have, but strangely are missing from the sim ?

1) Lockheed L100 ...non-miltary flight sim, non-miltary Hercules, thank you.

2) Dehavilland Comet ...the first jet airliner. Surely a famous flier, no ? The 4C will do.

3) IL-76...ubiquitous in reality; yet nowhere to be seen in sims. My favourite jet transporter.

4) ShinMaywa US-2...interesting, fast, amphibious go-anywhere , so perfect for MSFS. Completely ignored, though.

5) Handley Page HP-42/45 ...hate to use the word 'iconic' but it is. Instantly recognizable, but never seen.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

These are all *very* obscure, except the Comet which would be a solid Asobo FF, and the IL76 which has never been done in detail for a sim before. I don’t know why these are surprising, I’m much more surprised we haven’t seen a Saab or more twin Beechcraft.

1. Global Express

2. Cessna Citation X

3. Gulfstream anything (not sure if the company is still boycotting virtual development of it's IP)

4. Beechcraft Premier I

5. Dassault Privat Jets (would love a 10X with a full cabin)

We have airliners and short range business jets (with two exceptions) but the long range private jet market has been lacking in MSFS.  Having any of these options with a full cabin would be amazing.🍺

There's not much work to do with many of these more modern options concerning avionics thanks to WT's amazing Garmin implementation in MSFS (older birds actually would require more work to develop). The major work would be with visual model/flight dynamic implementation. Knowing this I'm surprised we haven't seen more private jet options released in the past few years.🧐

Not my cup of tea, but I agree. Very surprising we have not seen more of these birds.

Very surprising indeed, especially considering the ready-to-go avionics. Thankfully the FlightFX Citation X has recently entered beta testing so fingers crossed we'll get it soonish.

If I could upvote exactly this 100X I would. Globals and/or Challengers; Gulfstreams (IV, V, or G500, 600, 700, or 800), and Dassault Falcon (would love to see a 900, and a 20).

The one aircraft I would like to see is the Jet Stream 41.  Loved that plane in FSX.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

DHC-8-100/200  - Surprised no-one has jumped on this.

Boeing 737-200 - Milviz/Blackbird "claimed" this one back in 2020 but it sounds like we wont see it until at least 2025.

Saab 340 - Carenado?

Fairchild Metroliner - last good version was from Razbam for FSX.

Also hoping for more Russian and Ukrainian types but not surprised we haven't seen them.

NAMC YS-11 - a personal favorite and I can hold out hope for a good one, but I'd be surprised to see it.

Side note: An MH-65/AS365 is in development by Taog. On the private jet side, I know that both Gulfstream and now Dassault do cease and desists to developers so we likely won't see them.

And it would be so suited to the enhanced scenery and weather of MFS, cruising at lower altitudes and slower. But PMDG never even released it for P3D x64 although they did show screenshots of it. Perhaps JustFlight will pick up the baton, as they already have the same FMS units coded and quite bit of the switch gear modelled from their 146/Avro RJ series?

This one, definitely.

Especially the fact that we still lack a decent A330 but we have enough A320s to fill the Mariana Trench

It doesn't help that they've recently announced that'll only be doing the noliner retrofit.

I would image MSFS 2024 brings a nice Falcon 3 holer...  maybe an 8X even....  although it will be complex, the WT base Honeywell Primus avionics could definitely be used in one.
