A glimpse of the Aerosoft A340?

Featured Replies

Aerosoft released a video today previewing their upcoming Frankfurt scenery, and at the end, there's an A340-300 taking off from runway 18:

(Video should play from the right timestamp, otherwise fast-forward to 9:44.)

As has been discussed before, they have received a grant from the German ministry for economic affairs to produce an A330neo and A340. (Linked article is in German, but Google Translate should handle it.) Is this a glimpse of the in-development A340? There's no way to know, of course, how far along in development this is, but it's a nice teaser.

Worth watching the whole video by the way if you're looking forward to the Frankfurt scenery.

I will 110% certainly buy an Aerosoft A340. The nicest looking bus of them all.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

The number 4 at the end could be either a date or 4 engines

Wasn't aware they had done one - you may be right! Particularly since it's the -300 variant, which is also what LatinVFR offers.

That's what I thought, too. (Anyone remember "4 Engines 4 Long Haul"?) I think it's most likely though to refer to the date that the Frankfurt scenery releases.

Oh don't remind me of that. Worst thing Airbus has done. Ever.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I think that was a Virgin Atlantic slogan though?

Anyone notice the CRJ taxiing with its nose gear at a 90 degree angle? As for that number "4", are there any suggestions what it could mean? 4 months to go in development? April 2025 release date? Release price?

No that was Airbus' advertising of the A340 when the 777 came out. There was an ad that basically said "over the ocean you better have 4 engines" and it came with a dark picture of an empty ocean, implying "because in a 2 engine aircraft you'll drown in the vast ocean". Can't find it right now via Google. But it caused a big controversy, did a great job compromising the whole industry.

Ah, thanks, always thought Virgin originated it, but obviously they just jumped on the bandwagon.

I've found an article:

Particularly strange given that they were already selling the A330 at the time...

Ah yes that's it. Yes it was just a total marketing meltdown. And didn't even help the A340 in sales, obviously.
