PSXT 8.0.0 - Potential bug causing FPS loss

Hi Nico,

Hope you're doing Well!

I’d like to report a potential bug in the latest version of PSXT. It appears that when an RT server issue occurs and a soft restart is triggered, PSXT doesn’t properly clear the injected traffic from the previous session before adding new traffic. At one point, I had over 1100 injected planes in one session (verified through MSFS DevMode >> Debug >> SimObjects), even though the PSXT UI showed around 70 planes. This eventually led to a significant drop in frame rate over time. As soon as i close PSXT, everything goes back to normal.

Below is a log snippet highlighting the RT error I’m referring to:

I’ve also noticed multiple instances of curl weather exceptions due to server timeouts.

Balthasar has fixed it. The major problem was Real traffic, and in case it happens again the change in 8.0.1 will prevent the sticking aircraft in your Sim (is the idea, could not test it yet)

Hi Nico.

I'm still having the same issue causing high number of injected traffic and subsequent  FPS Loss following RT errors and PSXT restart.

I'm aware that you icreased the soft restart time in case of RT API errors, but the question is, can you force PSXT to remove all previous traffic prior to triggering the restart in the same way when we close PSXT?

That should not be necessary,  PSXT simply closes the SimConnect connection, and upon that SimConnect should remove all aircraft from the sim.

This is what happens in all other restart situations...

But I'll look into it.

Could you post the Log file part with the reason for restart?

Totally agree. But in some cases SimConnect_Close(hSimConnect) might not go as planned. I'd start by checking the result of the call to see if there is any issues:

HRESULT hr = SimConnect_Close(hSimConnect);

if (hr != S_OK) {

// Handle error

}

I'm able to trigger a PSXT restart by manipulating netwok traffic and I confirm that the old traffic is not being removed upon restart.

I did a quick test with 8.0.6 before leaving home. RT was stable so no restart happened. I did trigger a restart by derailing traffic between PSXT abd RT API for a minute or so. What’s diffrent this time is that live traffic seems to be removed as soon as RT data becomes unavailable, so you won’t see hanging traffic ,but static is still being left behind upon restart.

Still a mystery why simconnect is not getting rid of it at connection close. I left PSXT running, so I’ll post logs later when back home.

PSXT 8.0.6 seems to have fixed the issue. Been running for a straight two hours with no restart despite multiple RT API issues.

This is looking good, PSXT handles all execeptions. No restarts needed. Balthasar has some work to do to fix the invalid literal problem. Although it does not happen very often 0.4% of the calls according to Balt, it should not be.

On 8.04 I had a few sessions where some aircraft wear stationary and more and more of them
When I open the littleNAVmap I could see duplicates or triplicates were only one of these were moving and others were stationary
That was also happening on the ground
I knew something was weird because performance will deteriorate and aircraft on hold short  will not disappear as they normally do if they sit there to long
I’m running 8.06 and after two hour flight everything seems to be back to normal.
I will continue monitoring
