September 20, 20241 yr I didn't see this comparison posted anywhere. I'm sure it will be useful for you. MSFS 2020 system requirements: And MSFS 2024 system requirements: Take them with a grain of salt: My rig (with both my current 5700X3D and my old 5600X CPUs) appeared to be more than ideal for MSFS 2020, but I still have issues. For 2024, it will be just above recommended specs. At least MS is not forcing us Windows 11 up. Guess I'll need a new rig. Waiting for a 9700X and a 5070-5080 GPU to show up. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). September 20, 20241 yr Thanks for posting this. My thoughts have to do with Xbox being the same Xbox. Meaning, why would the requirements change if one of the target platforms is the same? Will the Xbox and PC version be that different? Or is this a guide to getting the max-max performance on PC? My fairly old computer runs MSFS2020 just fine but I may have to update for November's release. September 20, 20241 yr How the hell are they gonna release this on consoles with a recommended 32g of system ram? Doesn't the Xbox have 12g and the PS5 only 16g…? Edited September 20, 20241 yr by Kilo60 Chris Camp
September 20, 20241 yr My 2600K & Titan ran MSFS 2020 very well. It was all the updates that force me to keep lowering the TLOD. Even after I upgraded to the i5 12600K, I still had to lower my TLOD to 100 in certain locations. If it wasn't for AutoFPS, I would still be manually changing the TLOD to obtain the best performance. I can't thank the developer enough! I'm confident that my i5 12600K will run MSFS 2024 as well as it runs 2020. I do hope that there's a built in autofps or I might need to go back manually changing settings while doing a flight. MSFS

Consoles use less RAM than PCs do, because they don't have the OS and background programs eating it up. Plus consoles don't run at the highest settings. Edited September 20, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
September 20, 20241 yr What I find interesting is their ideal MSFS2024 AMD CPU spec being the Ryzen 9 7900X, rather than the 7800X3D that seems to be the community consensus for best CPU to run MSFS2020. The 7900X is a 12-core CPU with 64MB of L3 cache; the 7800X3D is an 8-core CPU with 96MB of L3. This would seem to imply that core count is going to be much more of a factor going forward. This entire spec sheet is bonkers and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. the AMD equivelants to Intel don't really make any sense, a 970 or a 5700? A 4080 or a 7900XT? Makes no sense. Not to mention to mention of what frame rate or resolution these reccomendations are suited for.
September 20, 20241 yr I agree. The specs don't make much sense. Plus, we don’t know what the 'ideal' implies in terms of resolution, settings, etc. For all we know, the ideal specs could be for 8K gaming. This is why it’s best to wait until reviewers get their hands on a beta and test it on different hardware.

I'm going to wait and see how my current 10-core 10900K + 4090 MSFS box works and get some post-release feedback before making any upgrade decisions. September 21, 20241 yr Author Unless they add 4xFG, or something as fantastic as that, I can't see MSFS2024 running on a Xbox S. September 21, 20241 yr Thanks for posting the specs. I noticed WIN10 across the board. But, WIN10's free support ends next year, correct? So, users will then need to purchase WIN11 [or extended service for WIN10], correct? Edit: I would need a $2000(US) upgrade (more memory and a newer Nvidia graphics card) to my current PC or a whole new PC for about $4000(US). So, I may have to wait awhile to purchase MSFS2024.
