That Win 10 pre-requisite makes sense only if they mean the difference in performance between the two OSs will be residual, yet I prefer Win 11 over Win 10 for other reasons like stability, updates, ...

It says "Minimum os version" and not that Windows 10 is the preferred OS.

The more I see these comparisons the more impressive MSFS 2024's visuals are... starting off with the graphics of Sublogic FS on the Commodore 64 to now have the whole digital earth as our sandbox represented in this detail in our computers, what a time for simulation. While certainly not the leap MSFS 2020 was when it arrived, the jump from 2020 to 2024 is a big whopper of an evolution I must say 🙂 (and that's just visuals wise).

Per this recent interview by Abriael https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0gBUEYK3qI , it's clear Asobo/MS have big plans for the digital twin earth beyond just flight simming, and they didn't want to disclose any details and were coy about the future plans, but will be exciting to see what comes in the coming years as updates to MSFS 2024 and then the next major release(s) for this simulation as well as other applications/sims using the same twin earth technology. MS surely has got to be thinking multiple big pictures currently.

how does someone read the windows 10 requirement and assume it means windows 10 only and not 11?? 😕

No one, well at least not me, said that... What I mean is that not mentioning win11 on any of the levels of quality of simulation means the difference between the two OSs is residual...

Remember how Microsoft gave us all these amazing graphics before 2020 and then when it finally came out didn't match what they had shown off?

In the comparisons, where you can see both 2020 and 2024 at the same time, the 2020 sort of looks like an impressionist painting. We can see that the 2020 object is subjectively a very handsome tree. In the 2024 version, for better or worse, it looks like a real tree.

I actually think there's a huge step from 2020, namely the new carreer mode and the way you can build your character for playing it, as well as the out-of-cockpit simulation of interactions not only with your aircraft but with the surrounding ecossystems...

Some of the mission types are also quite innovative, even if they have been asked by simmers.

So apart from the new Earth Model coverage, details level, without performance degradation, something that never used to be the case each time ms fs changed version up until fsx and not counting ms flight, there are many other big improvements over even MSFS 2020.

Unfortunately I still have to try it to believe the same Will apply flight dynamics wise... and weather modelling wise...

Except in this case we are not just looking at produced videos by MS but also going by what all these various press and social media folks have actually seen with their eyes and used on test builds. And 2020 graphics still floored most of us on release despite any discrepancies with the trailers and feature videos.

What the testers all saw was the Grand Canyon biome.

By the way, it would be unwise to walk up a hill or down a road if not in the 1% or less special hand modified biomes in 2024. The result would not be pleasant.

The airports, at least the bespoke ones, will surely also provide nice results when you wander around on foot.

Everyone will have to judge for themselves on release.. My main pain point area core FDE wise was ground handling and physics, and all what I've seen from multiple interviews along with various videos from those who attended leave me very encouraged. Quite frankly they seem to have to gone above and beyond what I expected with the ground handling rework.  And all the other initial reports from multiple folks who used the preview build also mention noticeable improvements in flight dynamics so let's see. I'll be looking at the new default aircraft to pick up on any improvements, but will have to wait on 3rd party aircraft updates to complete the picture and see what the new platform is really capable of.

As for weather, well there again quite encouraging from all the reports & interviews, including that latest article on weather improvements in v2024 from msfsaddons.com (https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/649230-msfs-2024-global-preview-mega-thread/?do=findComment&comment=5166288), so let's see.

I have seen lots of footage and have to say the clouds still look, disappointingly, very much like MSFS 2020's clouds. I have seen plenty of clouds that all suffer from the same issues as in MSFS 2020, including some absolutely horrible looking clouds that don't look realistic or good in the slightest.
