September 24, 20241 yr I'm very interested in the seasons and how they're depicted, the recent UK update whereby you have scorched brown fields right next to a line of purest green (Blackadder pun for you there!) fields makes it look absolutely hideous. So will seasons "hide" that sort of poor visuals? That'll be one of the first things I'll be looking at. Not sure if 2024 will bring me any real upgrade, besides maybe some better clouds. Ya for airliner simmers the 2024 some of the improvements of interest would be: improved flight dynamics (the aircraft devs would need to update their aircraft though, unless you're flying any of the default airliners like 737 Max or iniBuilds A330) the ground handling revamp (and the 4000x detailed ground terrain rendering as well as 3D terrain collision modelling ultimately and naturally helps the runway surface modelling in various weather conditions and characteristics/behavior of the wheels on the ground) wake turbulence simulation and interaction with atmospheric airflow and weather weather improvements (see https://msfsaddons.com/2024/09/21/heres-everything-you-need-to-know-about-weather-in-microsoft-flight-simulator-2024/) seasons (if you care about how the earth looks from high altitude 🙂) better multi-threading and full use of all CPU cores improvements to AI traffic a synopsis of all improvements: https://msfsaddons.com/2024/09/19/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-fully-detailed-a-comprehensive-look-at-the-next-gen-sim/ Edited September 24, 20241 yr by lwt1971 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD

Yet the scorched fields of the UK are a disaster for sure, commented on it at the time but very little was ever said about it, ruined flying parts of the UK for me. I think this time if i do get 2024 i'll invest in an Xbox for it. I've been looking for an excuse to get one and this might be it. Ryzen 5 3600 / RTX 2070 8GB / 2x8 RAM/

I mentioned it also, and I also asked how this would work with seasons. Example brown field (scan taken in summer) - but you are flying in January. Will the AI paint that field green? Also crops, example - if you are flying in areas when it's summer but the scan was taken in winter, you may not have the correct crops/any crops showing - no crops = no AI rendering 3D crops. I'm sure Asobo have taken all this into account and would love to know how they have done it from a technical pov. September 25, 20241 yr At the ground level, the graphics of MSFS 2024 look 6 years more advanced than MSFS 2020, and look 15 years more advanced than the "main competition." i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

What particularly worries me about the crops is the LOD ‘pop-in’ that was seen in some of the previews, they appear *very* late, only when you're super close to the field.

Indeed, this was hard to ignore once spotted, low TLOD = look to the side and down - not ahead. I want to fly over areas like the south if France and see those wine vineyards stretching out Infront of me, not row by row, one field at a time. What were those PC specs again at the big reveal, GPU was a 3080 wasn't it - hardly entry level - CPU? September 25, 20241 yr I bet all those people that are negative about MS 2024 will be the first ones digitally moving too Kiribati and buy the new sim when it comes out😋 Edited September 25, 20241 yr by Kaboki

Specs are one thing, I've not seen one mention in the reviews about specific Graphics Settings used, which is another. I'm OK with LOD popping in during an Alpha Event pre-release, if they're popping in when I have LODs turned up on release day then that's when the pitchforks come out. They've had long enough to realise they messed it up with MSFS2020 when they kept changing the goalposts with LODs every other update, MSFS24 is the time to finally "get it right".
