MS surely has got to be thinking multiple big pictures currently. Curious if they've mentioned any commercial applications, either there or elsewhere? Can't imagine this isn't viable for a number of IRL uses and would be shocked if it weren't already happening... @Abriael, too?

David is the Chief Creative Officer, which means that his role is partly to dream up things. What he said likely shouldn't be taken as something already decided being teased, but more him mulling about what COULD be. If they had actual "Plans," he wouldn't have said a word 😄 Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com

They haven't mentioned it, but digital twins are a concept that is very much en vogue in all sorts of businesses and non-gaming applications. Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com
September 22, 20241 yr What I have seen so far has really impressed me. Enough so that I pre-ordered it! One thing that would increase my confidence in the product is instead of seeing staged pictures that look amazing I would like to see photos of random cities. Not your popular and well done cities like Los Angeles and New York but random cities like say Reno Nevada or Albuquerque New Mexico. Maybe somewhat under served European cities in past sims like say Bergen Norway. Perhaps at some point the NDA will be fully lifted and some surprise beta testers will be glad to share such photos of those areas or something like it.
September 22, 20241 yr This brings to mind of all of the World Update previews for MSFS2020, compared to what we actually ended up getting. I'm not going to believe anything until I actually see it here on this PC. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

All we have seen so far is preselected by them. Totally legit, but in my case, I would really like to see if e.g. Switzerland is still a mess regarding aerials. Or any word on if and how they improved colour mismatching adjacent aerial tiles. To be honest, the details of the new sim look great and georgeous, but what is with the bigger picture? Things that annoy me most in MSFS2020 are not yet covered by any preview. So I still have my fears that they wont be improved... So I still have my fears that they wont be improved... 90% of the time I prefer to fly tubeliner's so detail throughout the world is important to me. The bling they have shown is cool but for the most part it means little to me. I do occasionally fly GA including some bush flying and what they have shown is amazing but most of the time its airliner flying. Usually fly something like the E175 to minor cities. For the most part FS2020 is pretty satisfactory so its likely FS2024 will be even better but for people like me we have seen little that really amazes us! I did hear at one point that FS2024 has a lot more detailed Bing maps and the engine for creating things has been far refined over FS2020 so in theory many places should be pretty solid but until we see it who knows?

Flight simmers got so used to 2006-style graphics (landclass and other plausible world textures) that we saw few visual improvements to our base sims for 14 years! 🤞 MSFS2028 (or whatever follows) has an even more realistic colour palette and texturing.
