For non-marketplace add-ons, the devs would use information in the SDK as to what the migration procedure is to make them work as-is in 2024. And in most cases the work to do this should be minimal or none, and the existing add-ons might even work in 2024 without any changes. But the devs should ensure they do any updates required to get 2020 add-ons working as-is in 2024 (I'm talking the minimal updates required for any issues, not about any work required to take advantage of new 2024 features). They laid out the process for bringing 2020 content to 2024 at FS Expo starting here: https://youtu.be/bfA0NHuPlT8?t=1249 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD
September 23, 20241 yr Yes https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/12702272798364-Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-2024-FAQ Quote With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Owned MSFS 2020 Content For any content you purchased outside of the simulator, the Community Folder will continue to work as it did in MSFS 2020. Any content in your MSFS 2020 Community Folder can simply be copied over to the new MSFS 2024 Community Folder, and the vast majority of that content should work in MSFS 2024. September 23, 20241 yr Inibuilds just confirmed that some of theirs will be brought to MS24 free of charge but some will be charged again. So no.

September 23, 20241 yr This is prime opportunity for devs to charge a nominal $7.99 fee for proper conversion and compatibility with FS2024 addons. If I were a dev, I would do the same. That's a lot of lost potential revenue if everything just carries over.

The ground image has moved multiple times, necessitating moving every single object, line and apron, with new Bing imagery so I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again. There will likely be extra functionality like the passengers we've glimpsed. It may be that a plane jumps across with an hour's work, though minus extra features like the walk-around, but a large airport could need tens or hundreds of hours to be top tier again. I expect the majority will charge even if they didn't expect to because there's more to do than anticipated. Edited September 24, 20241 yr by superspud

Inibuilds said, in your own link, that they will not be developing for the 2020 version after the A300. Nowhere does it say that they will be charging again for 2020 versions and in any case, the quote relates only to their aircraft.

So you want to pay a $7.99 fee for every MSFS 2020 addon airport that you have, just so that you can use them in MSFS 2024? I would prefer to be able to install the MSFS 2020 versions in MSFS 2024 free of charge, and then anyone who wants to get MSFS 2024 upgraded versions down the line can (quite rightly) pay a fee.
