IE: I flew into KALS tonight in a CJ4. I setup an ILS approach and instead the ATC wanted to vector me for manual approach to a DIRT RUNWAY. And this isn't a one-off situation, it's done this OVER and OVER again to me. I don't fly large airliners, and I don't often fly into large airports. I suspect nobody is really testing this beyond those, because every airport I fly to winds up with this situation. 

I finally asked for, and to their credit, received a full refund tonight. I might check back later to see if it's any better, but then they banned me from their discord, which seems petty. I'll take my biz elsewhere at this point. 

I am all into FSHud v2 right now and stopped using BATC because of the ongoing problems. I will certainly not ask for a refund though because I am still curious to see where it goes in the future. But as it is now I simply prefer something that's working (and odd as it may be: the 'silent' alpha of FSHud v2 works perfectly fine for me).

He recently also stated that he thought default MSFS ATC was doing a better job than BATC, so there's that...

I'm using BATC but acknowledge it is Early Access/Traffic Alpha, and whilst I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, I certainly have my share of frustrating experiences too from time to time. Yet, the pace at which it progresses is amazing and new features are added all the time. I'm bracing for a big update as there hasn't been one in a week now, which must mean they're working away on something substantial.

I follow FSHud 2.0 with interest. I tried 1.x last year and didn't like it but I think in the long term the race is between BATC and FSHud 2.0. Both have things they do amazing and things they don't. It's how far they will go to improve where they currently fall short. I'm optimistic that both will end up great products and even in its current state we never had better ATC products for any sim than we do now.

Fair point, only SI is far from half baked. Not perfect either, but constantly improving at a very fast rate. To me the price is worth it.

With MSFS2024 supporting historical weather it is likely more people will fly out-of-sync with real time. I think it would be an oversight for BATC not to take that into account. Active runways can change 180degr. within an hour, e.g. when winds change from calm to windy. If MSFS2024 would factor in noise abatement procedures (it likely doesn't) it would be even more problematic.

FSHud is where I'm leaning to now based on various readings/comments/YT. Perhaps when P2ATCv3 shows up, I'd give a try also. Again, AI Traffic control is out of my interest.

Good old and well-forgotten PRO-ATC has an option to request a different approach within the same STAR. For example, I could be able to ask EDDF 7C instead of 25C as per real-time ATIS. Even Radar Contact (yes, I'm that old :-)) has had this option.

The one thing I don't like about BATC, is that you are locked into one approach, with no easy way to change it. This is probably because they want  to control AI traffic too.

You can type (no point and click), but I never use it. If I get too busy, I turn the coms over to my FO.

Got it. That's why I will start this weekend with FSHud (F1 has a honest and long-standing refund policy) and then decide about the others.
