To be honest I would say the VRAM memory (6gig) and system memory (16gig) is the bottleneck here but that is just my opinion. What setting's do you run MSFS at? How much AI etc.? Also how is your system cooling? Edited October 3, 20241 yr by JBDB-MD80

I try to clean my fans regularly, for the most part they feel pretty cool when I put my hand over them, my FSLTL settings is 20 IFR traffic and 0 VFR since I fly airliners and long hauls. For the most part I run MSFS at medium settings and use auto FPS to control the LOD. My FPS tonight in the fenix cockpit doing a Atlanta to JFK run was 26 to 28 but exterior view was 36 to 39. Also my laptop isn't even a year old yet I upgraded my previous model last year. Edited October 3, 20241 yr by Captainsheepdog

And yeah I try my hardest to get the most frames out of my system while maintaining smooth preformance Actually I find it is not about trying to get as many FPS as possible, I can run unlocked and in certain situations hit 100fps or more but my GPU will be running at full tilt and it really is not necessary. In RTSS go to the settings and select "Front edge sync" it is under compatibility properties and make sure "Enable frame rate limiter is selected" Load into an airport of your choice at the gate and then start experimenting with different fps locks. If you have enabled the RTSS overlay what you want to be looking for is a FTV (frame time variance) that is as consistent as possible. I run Ultra settings @4K 120Hz on my 55" Sony X90K with GSYNC and have found that locking to 72 fps gives me a virtually flat FTV which yields a very smooth experience. I typically set a TLOD of 130 on the ground and 300 above FL100 using the awesome AutoFPS. When over mountainous areas Auto fps will increase my TLOD up to 600 if I have the headroom. If I am at a big hub with traffic then I will lower the amount of traffic and if needed drop the fps lock in RTSS which is super quick to do. Typically I like mid size airports as you get good performance even with traffic. You also need to look at your MSFS settings, start off with say medium settings and experiment what works best for your system. Once you get to know what you can achieve really you don't need to touch much. The key takeaway is that you have to run the sim with settings that will allow you to achieve the performance you are looking for with the hardware you have. I do not care for a 100+ fps, I would much rather have a very fluid experience even at a lower fps. Hope this helps I tend to get a solid 35 to 40 frames in the air with medium settings, I use programs like auto FPS that help a lot. I also have my frames capped in NVCP at my default of 58 frames (nivida sets it to that whenever I turn it on) tonight in the fenix on VATSIM I got an average of 35 frames in the cockpit and 44 in exterior view. Around airports it will drop to about 28 to 30 FPS. Idk if this matters but my monitor is 2500 x 1600 and 165hz, Edit: there were periods tonight when I panned around the cockpit my frames dropped below 25 for a few seconds and my main thread MS was in the 30s.
