MS and Asobo are not that stupid to lose the core simmers who use the best 3rd party addons available like PMDG,

LOL the 'core simmers' are always their first thought!

Not like PMDG would say like umm nope we aint doing radar cos the sim isn't suitable

Add it anyway cos meh $$$

Or like they would delete their decades old PERFECT unique mouse VC control scheme just to fit around a gaming one?

Ahh we'll delete it and conform with the tiny arrows people with poor vision and disabilities can suck it.

Oh and like they let just anyone create planes and sell them on the marketplace or give way freeware there?

Sorry HIFI your weather program makes ours look deficient so no dice and also NOBODY talk about you know OLOD stuff cos we'll fix it in 2024

Maybe.

  • Some notes I took: new aircraft geometry for flight models: can be detailed defining/configuration of fueselage, horizontal tails, vertical tails, wings, and various other surfaces

  • Think it's gonna be wise to keep MSFS 2020 installed until all our important/fav 3rd party aircraft are known to work. While most will be backwards compatible without changes there are likely to be hi

Great info and much to be excited about!

Does the above mean that end-users can choose the aircraft to use in a mission...?

Ya as long as third party devs develop their aircraft to meet the criteria, sounds like they'll then be available for use with the missions & career systems. Which is an important aspect of flexibility (I'm sure all the big aircraft devs are going to be all over this).. going further, when Asobo also provide an SDK for missions then the possibilities are going to be endless for 3rd party devs.

  • in order to be compatible with careers/missions, must meet various criteria
  • a full list of criteria per mission/activity is documented in the SDK docs
  • simojbect editor can review and let you know what aspects of your aircraft are not compatible
  • in marketplace can see the full criteria list/matrix per aircraft so users can see which ones are compatible with which aviation activities/missions

This is probably the best news; I was wondering about that lately. So we are not limited to the default aircraft in Career Mode.
Hopefully it isn't too much of an effort for developers to make their aircraft fit for Missions/Career Mode

I really really hope that there will be no WASM related crashes - right now the situation with all inibuilds planes is unbearable (at least for me)

I don't think 2024 will be able to change anything about this. If the aircraft's code crashes, there's nothing the SDK can do about that.

Did anyone notice that MS/Asobo have screwed over devs who aren't in the Marketplace? They won't get access to the SDK until public release. That impacts devs like Fenix, SPAD, Navigraph, and others.

Can't see how they're "screwed over" considering it's common practice to release tools after/on release, hardly an issue when the simulation will be supported for many years to come and either way they're only getting it a few weeks later, no great loss.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Not only do they not get early access, if the aircraft is not available on the marketplace, it cannot be used in career mode at all. Bummer.

I predict a lot of turbulence.

A full month lag is pretty significant, especially because devs not in the MP are probably the ones who need more time to get their products working in the sim.

Hmm disagree, it took what 2 years-ish to get the first highly detailed aircraft into MSFS2020, it's going to be much quicker with MSFS24 and one month later for modders SDK isn't really going to hurt that much, patience ☺️

That’s a bit surprising to be honest. And unfortunate. I was under the impression that the SDK would be available to all 3rd party devs well ahead of release.
