The concept of a destination airport has been abandoned...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

No more worries about setting, resetting, or forgetting to set the Destination airport! No more forgetting to set a new destination when diverting ...

In the new design (version 8.4.0) , PSXT will -in the landing phase- generate static parked aircraft and live ground traffic if the airport is one of your third party addon airports (EDIT: and if there are more airports within reach at the one closest by only).

On top of that you may specify more airports in the file my_park_airports.txt, to be put in \PSXT\airports, and you may define a reserved stand for your aircraft.

It may take a few minutes to create your my_park_airports.txt file with the airports you normally fly to (if not already in your third party addons), but then you never have to worry about setting destinations anymore!

You don't have to do that work all alone, because PSXT can also add info to your my_park_airports file automatically.

This new design can also be used to get static parked aircraft and live ground traffic at airports you fly over.

See the Manual 8.4, Chapter 11 for more details.

This seems like a useful feature, but let me see if I understand. I like to fly into new airports all the time. And I don't use any 3rd party scenery.

This means that if I want static aircraft parked when I land, assuming it's an airport I've never been to before, I first have to manually update the my_park_airports.txt file?

If that's correct, then I wonder if there's something simpler. For those of us with PSX, Balt would have access to the FMC destination airport. If RealTraffic could somehow broadcast that, could PSXTraffic add any "FMC destination" airport automatically to the my_park_airports.txt file?

That's correct, but only for your first landing there. After touch down the airport gets populated when you have come to a stop. Next time it will know that airport, and where you parked, because that info will have been add to your my_park_airports.txt automatically. Same if you start from a new airport and you fly away but return to it it will know.

So it is not a big deal, in the past you always had to fill in a destination in the GUI...
(and you are a bit special not having any add-on airports ...  😉 )

There are only a few PSX users, not enough for a special treatment, imho.

Hi Nico

With these new changes do we still need a professional licence from ReaLTraffic or will just a standard licence do to get traffic live and static on the ground before we land.

Thanks

Hi Don,

Nothing has changed, a standard license will do, to see live traffic.

Yes you do.
