FSX Image corruption

Recommended Posts

Guest Nils79

Alex, this was an advise for somebody, who has problems with his FSX installation and one of the easiest ways to find the source of an error, is to disable the add-ons - and i didn't meant replacement textures like FEX/GEX. Please read the post of Petraeus. For example i use Tom Knudsen's tree replacement textures, but if you want to use them with SP2, you have to add an alpha channel. If his FSX runs well, he can use every add-on he wants. Really no reason to start a drama.

It is for sure caused by faulty scenery. I am working on a few airports for FSX and can easily reproduce that effect by using a piece of suspect code in the xml used to produce the new airport layout (AFCAD in FS9).

I've had this problem come and go and I believe it is related to the video card memory in some fashion. I have brought this symptom on, occasionally, by having the "BufferPools" value set too high. other times it has been when I have been modifying airports and scenery and have done many "reloads" without rebooting. Tonight, on a flight leaving Vienna on the way to Palermo in my FS9 imported Comet 4B I hade the "spikes in the sky" briefly during climbout. They eventually disappeared and the remainder of the flight was fine. I did notice in the Vienna airport area I was getting alot of micro-stutters. I had noticed the stuttuers earlier today when I flew into Vienna in the default B747-400 but no "spikes". In both instances I only had about 87 AI aircraft showing in the Traffic Toolbox display. I've flown "stutterless" in other places with in excess of 300 AI on the list, so I don't know if the AI was contributing to the problem or not. I've also seen this problem when at or around KLGA, as others have noted as well. I have an eVGA 8800GTS 640MB card and a Q6600 CPU @ 3.2GHZ. I'm using the 169.09 driver for the 8800 as it seems to give me fairly decent performance. Also, I always fly in windowed mode at 1280x1024, the native res of my monitor. Paul

You may already have them. Then in FSX, turn of the AA in the sime. It's OK to have Bileaner for the filter. Then set the AA in the drivers. I use the drivers to set almost everything for FSX.This helped me.Joe W.

I've seen the same thing happen, eventually degrading into what's shown on the pictures. It happens with FSX/SP2 (clean out of the box) too. I'm having a ATI X850 videocard, so it hardly can be driver related. My guess was it's a overload of either the videocard memory or the system memory. And the remedy which made it go away was to move the autogen and/or scenery slider one notch lower, and adding the Terrain_max_autogen lines to the cfg file.http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u43/koyaan/jikes.jpghttp://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u43/koyaan/jikes2.jpgRegards, Gerrit Kranenbarg

I get this when I pan around my acft, the lines jut up from autgoen houses and trees, very brief, but if I continue to pan around 360 degrees I will keep getting the quick blurbs of vertical lines

I have the same problem when I fly the IVAO LH2008, from KJFK to EHAM,I saw it at KJFK, and I got very slow FPS at that time. When I approach EHAM, I saw it again......I'm using Athlon64 6000+, with 2GB DDR2-800, 8800GTS 320MB, 169.21 driver!

I believe the only time I've had this occur (black lines extending up from buildings and trees)is when I'm panning or snap-panning the view and have "vertical sync" tuned off in the driver of my 7900. I've also read elsewhere that it might be a heat issue with the graphics card.

I had exactly the same problem. It is a memory problem. FSX uses a lot of memory and if it hits a memory limit the distortion occurs.I have Vista with 4GB memory. You think this was enough. Nope, FSX hits the 2GB per user process barrier and the distortion appears. In my case it was when i loaded the PMDG 747 and some other addons. To permit the user process to use more memory i set the 3GB switch in Vista (BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 3072) and the distortions were gone. I see that you have only 2GB of memory so in your case you must limit your FSX settings and addons.I attached a screenprint. Look at the engine of the 747. Looks funny doesn't it

OK, went back to the 169.13 beta drivers for 5 days now and not a single occurrence of the problem. For me, ut seems to simply be a driver issue.Q6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx 169.13 betaKandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg
