Far Too Many Aircraft But a Solution for FS2028

Featured Replies

When your desired plane is one of the 95 that is excluded you will not be happy.

Putting 95 out for the masses isn't a bad thing.

Holy, 2024 is not even out and some poeple speaking/thinking of MSFS2028 and you don't even know if it will appear at all - what a world and people on it 😅🤣

cheers 😉

It's also like going into a bakery and then complaining about too much cake variety. Because it has to be impossible that all cakes are good. 😉

It's UI bloat, I thought that was relatively clear.

The UI to clear the bloat is also... bloaty... it's not a very friendly interface to pluck content out of the sim right now (i.e. if you want to remove 1 airport from a WU, have to find the WU, unfold it, and then you have all unsorted addons in the manager now)

I've seen some bad UIs throughout the years, try finding a plane in RealFlight if it is not on your favorited list. There is room for improvement in the UI for sure. However, even with 100+ planes it takes me just 2 seconds and a couple key strokes in the search field to find a plane. Too many planes or creating UI bloat is not an issue in my opinion.

Yeah, in 2020 at least there's a search bar on the plane menu. There's also a search bar in the content manager.

We need a search bar for the livery menu though.

My method for controlling liveries is first and foremost to purchase payware aircraft from somewhere other than the Marketplace.  Doing so opens you up to edit the aircraft.cfg file for those aircraft where you can use a text editor and rem out the [FLTSIM.#] lines for liveries you do not want shown, and renumber those left in consecutive order starting with [FLTSIM.0).

I believe you still are not allowed to find or edit the aircraft.cfg file for models you purchase in the Marketplace.

I don't want to be a party pooper but the sim also contains waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many airports: 37000+

Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024
System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro

A favourite list could solved that "problem".

I understand what the OP means. And remember many people complaining that they can't uninstall the Pitts.

If it is not about disc space in 2024 any more, then tagging your most liked aircraft as favourite and seeing just that list then would be the perfect solution.

Should be possible to implement this after release also if we vote 😉

Is there any written confirmation from Asobo that if you purchase "Standard" but had previously purchased Premium Deluxe in MSFS 2020 that you will get the 60 airports.  I really don't care about the aircraft at all as I only fly payware addons, just want the airports and don't want to buy something I don't need.

For starters, this sim costs about 3 times the Maxiumum I would usually pay for any software.  I have preordered Premium Deluxe and I have no regrets about this (because it's flight sim!), and it includes 160 hand crafted airports. However it also includes 95 aircraft.  This is Far too many!  Now I Do Expect these aircraft to be a good standard with quality avionics thanks to Dev partners and WT etc. However there are still 95 of them.  Far too many!

Solution for FS2028

I think for FS2028, there should be a "custom deluxe" package also. What that means is that after install, you start the sim for the first time and enter the marketplace with a set number of points to spend on aircraft and airports.  For example, say all airports are worth 1 point each and aircraft are either 2 or 4 points depending on complexity.  And you start with 300 points total.
So I may choose 10 complex aircraft, 10 regular  aircraft  which comes to 60 points. Then I would have 240 airports to choose.
Someone else may choose 30 complex aircraft, 50 regular aircraft which comes to 220 points.  Then they can pick up to 80 airports.

This way simmers can customize the package to their own liking.

Imagine thinking that getting a lot of content for one's money is a bad thing.

Also, imagine thinking that something that costs in line with every AAA game in the industry is thrice the maximum one would usually pay for any software.

Considering the price of software, I honestly wonder what kind of software you use. However, considering the quality/value/price ratio of what we're offered, which is undeniably better than any simulator in the history of the genre, I will say the problem is entirely on your side here.

I'm a bit concerned over the lack of information about fs2028. Are they hiding something?

My thoughts exactly.

No, not a favorite list, to hide aircraft.  An actual way to tailor the purchase content.  Think about going to a new car dealer and ticking the boxes for features for a new car.   If I prefer to not have a sunroof then I don't click it.  Then they build the car with those selected features.
