The South of Wales

Featured Replies

This flight is for November 3, 2024

This is our second tour in Wales. The flight was planned without the extra add-ons with the ORBX Region GB South. However, for the benefit of those owning that region add-on, I included some of the POIs situated close to the planned route. Even with that add-on installed, some POIs are very hard to spot.

We depart from Shobdon (EGBS) and head southwest, visit the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, and land at Abergavenny Airport (EGAG). Now we head east to reach the Wye Valley National Landscape and follow the River Wye south until it flows into the Severn. Waypoint 6 should be at the Tintern Abbey. The Severn Bridge needs an inspection and afterward, we land at Filton (EGTG). We return to the Severn, inspect the Prince of Wales Bridge, and follow the coast. In Newport, we pass the Transporter Bridge and continue to Caerphilly. At the Castle, we turn south, overfly Cardiff with some POIs, and land at Cardiff (EGFF).

We continue along the coast and reach the city of Swansea. We land at Swansea Airport (EFGH). After passing over the Parc y Scarlets Stadium we land at Pembrey (EGFP). Again we follow the coast and turn north at the Thorne Island to finish the flight at Haverfordwest (EGFE).

The flight plans are here.

The flight has a length of 200 miles and 5 landings. I will be in the BN-2 Islander in the Logan Air livery.

As always, please fly what you like.

As payware, you can get ORBX GB South and, via ORBX, from different developers EGFF, EGFH, EGFE, and EGNT.

We try real weather. Please set your simulator for a 10 am local departure-

In Europe, the time change begins on Sunday 27 October. Until the time is changed in North America, our flights will start so that the departure time for Europeans is the same as before the change. The UTC will therefore be one hour later.
