The one thing these new AI ATC programs need to do:

Yes, you burn through about 20 to 30K characters on a 2 hour flight if you have controller and pilot voices active and are using an aircraft injector.

$9.99 for 250K characters is not sustainable, as for most people the constant shelling out for premium voices will soon wear thin.

It has for me and I've only used it for about two weeks.

That's where you gotta be strategic about turning the premiums on and off either in the air, or on the ground, wherever you enjoy it more. I do it from the start to cruise and then from TOD to gate and it isn't as savage on consumption.

Clever, but far from the truth.

Giving far too much credit there, it's not remotely clever.

As for the OP, P2ATC3 supports Amazon voices along with online MS Voices. I currently use v2 with MSFS, P3D & XP - have tested v3, not jumped in and purchased it just yet.... You could (apparently) use external voices with v2, not sure how it was configured though - since it wasn't in the app options.

In MSFS 2024, you can record samples of your voice and after than MSFS will automatically use your voice for all ATC comms.. looking forward to trying this out

This is a feature I've seen with all the different AI voice sellers. It's called voice cloning and you can also upload clips of anyone talking and have the AI duplicate. It's also quite expensive, so I'm curious how Asobo/MS will absorb that cost.

That's interesting. I never considered them, as last time I did their voices were very robotic. That was years ago tho. Were they using the Windows voices, as I don't remember even those sounding like that.

The SAPI voices do sound robotic, but you could (somehow) get the Amazon poly voices working with it in version 2 - I never tried it, but think there are instructions in the forum how to do it.

The new version can use the (Windows) SAPI voices, MS Online or Amazon Poly voices - and seems to all be supported in the APP, rather than having to mess around to get them working.

Thanks for that info. I'll have to check them out and see how they do.

It’s not expensive for Microsoft considering the investment they are already making in the sim.

In addition, they only need to train the voice for a limited set of phrases, probably in the low hundreds or maybe thousands. They don’t need a general purpose voice clone that can talk about anything and everything, just the ATC phraseology and some degree of variation to make it sound more natural.

it will be interesting to see how it actually works and how good it is.
