Thanks that did the trick.  I was able to do a quick test flight and got the plane to hold both the desired speed and heading.

We just literally posted links to Flybywire's guide for beginners in this thread. Right above your post.

There's no need to be rude is there? 🤨

I'm after a video on YouTube. The ones I've found are mostly aimed at already airbus type pilots.

Thank you.

We do not advise youtube videos as they quickly become out of date considering the nature of the project being in Alpha, youtube videos quickly become out of date.

I wouldn't say that was rude, exasperated maybe. Certainly informative. If someone asks a question in a new thread, then 2 people give answers then someone else comes along and without even reading the 2 answers asks the SAME question I'd say THAT was rude lol.

I read the first 2 posts. Jokes on you 😉

I'm not asking about how to use the autopilot, I'm asking about taking an aircraft from cold and dark to shutting down. It's a bit more complex than how to use the the MCP panel.

Fair enough, I normally learn an aircraft by running the video in the background and then doing everything they do in the sim, until it's engraved into my memory 😊.

I've got an old friend who flies the a380 irl so I might just ask them. Thanks anyway 😊

@worldsimmer2000  Please pay attention to the topic title and that should help keep the misunderstandings to a minimum.  It seems you jumped into this topic and wanted totally different information!

Which shows that you didn't even bother to look at what we posted as links. The beginners guide covers ALL of it, not just autopilot function.

So next time, please be so kind and take the 20 seconds it takes to check two links instead of asking questions about something we really just answered. 🙂

I did bother,  and was presented with a manual, which wasn't what I was after, so I ignored it.

You never specified you wanted a video. You said you wanted a tutorial. The beginner's guide is the best tutorial available. They gave you what you asked for. It's time to stop hijacking the thread now.

Yes, I realised my mistake, that's why in my next post I pointed out I was after a video. I'm sorry to inform you, but I'm not a robot, I'm a human, therefore it is possible that I could make an occasionall mistake.

I'm going to leave my role in this conversation here, this thread is getting considerably off topic.
