We take it for granted now four years into MSFS, but the amount of partnerships and working relationships MS/Asobo have forged both in the flight simulation ecosystem as well as real-world aviation partners, not to mention partnerships with players in other industries, is just unprecedented. What a time for simming.

As the new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator launches, it becomes even more realistic, giving the virtual pilot an incomparable feeling of flying. Lufthansa Systems plays an essential role in this, as its data now forms the basis of the simulation’s heart: the navigation. Microsoft Flight Simulator opted for Lufthansa Systems because of its high-quality data, exceptional charting standards, professional experience, and position in the market.

“Microsoft Flight Simulator is not only a globally beloved game by aviation enthusiasts but stands for the most realistic flight simulations for private use for decades. I, myself, am also an enthusiastic Microsoft Flight Simulator user, and I am delighted that other aviation enthusiasts can now experience this realistic simulation with our professional data,” said Philipp Barzen, Head of Lido at Lufthansa Systems.

I also prefer LIDO charts, but from what I’ve heard, they’re only available for airports where Lufthansa has—or could potentially have—regular operations. Is that correct?

I’m guessing that’s why https://aviaplanner.com also using LIDO is so cheap compared to Navigraph. €29 for the year.

Customers of LIDO, not just Lufthansa (the airline).

But your point still stands re: availability of aerodromes.

That doesn't really tell us whether they have the same level of chart coverage as Jeppesen or not, unfortunately.

The relevant question really isn't whether it has the same coverage as Jeppesen, but Navigraph. According to their website, Navigraph currently has Jeppesen coverage for 7000 airports. I doubt we'll be able to access the entire 35,000 LIDO airport library in MSFS 2024, so at this point we'll have to wait and see.

Are there any airports with Jeppesen charts that aren't in Navigraph ?

"Lufthansa Systems collaborates with Microsoft and makes Lido Sky Data and Lido Route Manual available not only to professional pilots and pilots in training but also to more than 15 million aviation enthusiasts worldwide who enjoy using Microsoft Flight Simulator. "

We're getting access to the Lido Route Manual as well? 🤔

I wonder if one day airlines like Lufthansa will remote fly their planes with pilots working from home on flight simulator
