Info about a good 75 inch TV with VRR for MSFS2020/2024

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am searching for  good 75 inch TV with VRR so that when the flightsim goes under 60FPS it will not result in stutter.
At least that is what I thought VRR does ?
I think TCL Mini Led is what I am searching for.
Any thought and experience is welcome.

I hope I can post this here.
Cannot find a Hardware category.

MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.

I am using the Hisense A6 75" monitor for my main sim screen. It is run in parallel with the computer's main monitor via a cheap WalMart splitter. Since I have a homebuilt cockpit, I need a sim monitor separate than the computer's main screen.

The A6 is rated at 4K 60 hz. I get about 40 fps out of MSFS 2020 and the A6 shows no stuttering that I can see. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Why the A6?? Because it is cheap!

I love my OLED but it did flicker at lower frame rates during night flights (which is a common issue with OLEDs). It’s due to the charge time of OLED pixels being optimized for 120Hz and if the frame rate is significantly lower it will degrade somewhat before the next frame refreshes things. This is only noticeable using VRR and on dark scenes. But this was a few years ago now, so maybe newer OLEDs have solved this. But something to look into and maybe a good reason to look at LCD.

I run a 55 Inch Sony X90K, your CPU is one gen newer than mine and we both have a 4090. I lock my FPS at 72 in RTSS which gives me a very consistent FTV which results in super smooth and fluid performance. I also run GSYNC on the Sony and find there is very little to no flicker from the VRR. I chose Sony because they are well known for their excellent motion control. I would make sure you buy whatever you choose from a reputable store that has a good return policy so you always have the option of returning it if you are not completely satisfied.

Does the X90K have VRR support ?

I've had my LG 77" CX OLED for a few years now. 120Hz, G-Sync compatible. No issues, extremely happy with it. There was a few days that I tended to notice VRR flickering at night time after @Virtual-Chris made me aware of it. But luckily I've been able to un-see it after that 🙂

Yes it does, when you select Game Mode it automatically turns on, then you need to setup Nvidia Control Panel accordingly. The key thing is make sure you select the display as Gsync compatible and then Low Latency - Ultra and you need to turn on Vsync - on, Make sure Vsync is turned off in the sim. If you do this then your FPS will be automatically capped below whatever refresh rate you have selected. I can run this way but I found there is no need to have 118 FPS as my hardware will be running maxed out. Setting a frame cap in RTSS to whatever you feel achieves the best result then leaves you headroom. As I mentioned 72 FPS gives me a great result (FG on) which is repeatable and if the FPS do drop momentarily Gsync will take care of it as long as you are keeping within the Gsync FPS range of the TV.

I use an LG C2 77" ... pending your view distance 85" might be a good option also.
