November 16, 20241 yr Absolutely. 100%. Totally. This is what makes MSFS 2024, for ME, a must upgrade. Can't wait to see how far I can go in this amazing simulator. MSFS

If it means I am "locked in" to career mode and have to use it to "get to" my traditional A-B flying with desired add-ons then no but I don't see that happening. I had good fun with a lot of the landing challenges in MSFS 2020 and some of the other activities so as long as I can do either/or I am sure I will give it a try. career mode can be completely ignored, and the sim would be just like FS2020
November 16, 20241 yr Yeah, I'll give it a spin. I've bought a lot of career addons like Neofly, A Pilot's Life, etc. My favorite was Air Hauler 2 in FSX/P3d but for some reason I never bothered to get the MSFS version when it came out. I enjoy career modes, but they've all had annoyances that are mostly tied to them being external programs that are imperfectly hooking into the sim. I lost count of how many times I forgot to alt-tab over to the other window and tell it I was starting a flight, only to realize it 2 hours in. If this career mode is decent, it'll have the built-in advantage of being... er... Built in. I'm also hoping this means I can do whatever futzing around I need to do before/after the flight without taking the VR goggles off. If it's low-depth or otherwise sucks I won't be too upset because I'm looking forward to other features of the new sim as well, but if they did a good job I'll probably use it fairly frequently. November 16, 20241 yr I've been having a lot of fun with OnAir, and the Freelance options keep me from being stuck to a single base. I like exploring the world, and if the career ties me to a single base, it might not work well for me. Rick Abshier 5900X | RTX 5070 Ti OC| 64 GB@3600 | India Pale Ale
November 16, 20241 yr I'm looking forward to giving it a go, but keeping my expectations in check. My favorite flying is GA aircraft (particular bush) or helicopters and flying in multiplayer with my on-line friends; second being ATC stuff (VATSIM or SI) which helps keep my IRL skills honed. One thing I wish they would consider for 2024 would be the ability to fly certain missions in multiplayer (i.e. firefighting) where you could invite others to join your mission and everyone getting their respective/shared credit. This would absolutely keep me going back for more. I enjoyed the simplicity of NeoFly missions, but the lack of having collaborating flight missions with others eventually led me to stop using it. Being challenged to do better, as an individual, is fine, but being able to share the same experience (reward or heartbreak) with others would be outstanding.

My PC doesn't move and my buttons are on a screen. I simulate an airliner, using the same navigation data, procedures and checklists that I saw them use. If I am so inclined, I can deal with issues in the same way they did. There are differences of course to the depth of the simulation, but not enough with something like the Fenix A320 to call MSFS just a game. MSFS with a 'study level' airliner is absolutely simulating an airliner and its procedures and the role of a pilot. MSFS enabled me to understand exactly what the pilots were doing at any point in the flight. You only have to watch some of the popular real world pilots on YouTube to see how authentic MSFS is. I personally don't understand why some get so upset when they see MSFS and simulator in the same sentence. I flew a Level D Sim at the Delta Training Site, years ago, a 767 ER for about 9 takeoffs, landings, and visual approaches. All but one landing was OK, one landing I bounced, because I flared at around 50 feet and dropped in. When I finished the Delta instructor pilot, asked me " How much turbine time do you have?" I replied, "only on my PC FSX using the Level D 767".. He was impressed.
November 16, 20241 yr Fair amount of info here, apologies if it's already here I did not see it! https://msfsaddons.com/2024/09/19/heres-how-the-career-mode-works-in-microsoft-flight-simulator-2024/ (well they certainly got that avatars SMUGNESS spot on!) November 16, 20241 yr I learnt to fly at NZWN where an aero club is based. But.....it is also an international airport. Methinks that FS2024 will block me from simulating what I did in real life. However, I'm eagerly looking forward to trying out all aspects of the career mode. May all your landings be safe ones! Hugh Costello - NZWN

There's an airbase near me that has a civilian instruction centre, but it was blocked as a career mode starting airport in the Tech Alpha. Edited November 16, 20241 yr by Tuskin38

It was stated by the actual Devs (which Jorg isn't) in the SDK stream that only Marketplace aircraft that are properly coded can be used in career mode. It's part of the marketplace process to check if they're compatible or something. Edited November 17, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
