November 15, 20241 yr I have never used ATC, but today, I stumbled upon this video. At time 17:00 did I hear correctly, taxi via haitch de de1 instead of HOTEL, DELTA, DELTA1? Is this fixed? 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
November 15, 20241 yr Nobody knows until next week . But I remember after initial release MSFS 2020 some phrases were updated . For example : “ taxi in to position and hold “ was replaced with “line up and wait “. November 16, 20241 yr I sure hope that "R-y-a-n-a-i-r" is fixed in MSFS 2024. That sounds ridiculous. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

November 17, 20241 yr There's a nuance. If the company name is written in CAPITAL LETTERS there is a 95% probability that MSFS ATC will pronounce it by letters. I've asked AIG AI guys many times to not write company names in capital. But no. When I asked why they said "It's a good practice (who the ... decide this?) to write it in capital letters. One old German programmer decided this way in 2006 so we don't want to change anything." 🤷🏻♂️. And be sure all ATC bugs and flaws will be transferred to 2024 successfully. Do you remember anyone of the (the WORD IS ABSOLUTELY NOT ALLOWED) Jorg's gang ever talked about proper ATC, right procedures etc. I don't. Edited November 17, 20241 yr by Vitold69

The AI pilots say "R-y-a-n-a-i-r". I use AIG TC. November 17, 20241 yr Why should I bother with MSFS 2024 at all? (Serious question) ATC still absolute word not allowed, still no weather radar support, addons not compatible out of the box... MSFS 2020 still looks fine. And we have Beyond ATC.

If default ATC not being up to your liking is a deal-breaker for you then yes MSFS 2024 is not for you. Default ATC will likely get revamped on a subsequent update of 2024 per MS/Asobo (no timeline provided). And wrong about weather radar support, 2020 definitely has weather radar within a forward facing 3D cone, just that the cone is not tiltable currently. There are reports that MSFS 2024's weather radar cone might be tiltable, but not confirmed. If all the improvements coming in 2024 (see below) is not to your liking, then yup, 2020 it is for you 🤷♂️ Edited November 17, 20241 yr by lwt1971 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD
