It's only a tech alpha and not representative of the final..

I haven’t tried it yet but from what I’m reading it’s not a good look.

The people in suits who pushed for this, most definitely underestimated how unforgiving the flight sim community can be.

The tech alpha was actually a breeze and positive…. But boy am I reading some negative news.

  • Well, it certainly is different from the tech alpha... it seems that one worked a whole lot better.

  • Good grief this is some next level hyperbole and setting of one's hair on fire 🤣 .. day 1 server load issues for a highly popular software product that is very dependent on the cloud and that means "s

You misspelled ‘OK today’s problems are in no way connected to the tech alpha and in no way comparable or an ‘I told you so’ moment’

I am voting either it gets delayed or is a dumpster fire

Well, you're right about the dumpster fire unfortunately. You're hereby forbidden to vote for future releases 😆

Regarding potential server issues...another comment from me on the same thread...

Definitely going to see major server issues, so agree 100% with you on that one. I doubt i will even try installing the sim on day one. I also fully expect this forum to become a dumpster fire as people lose it as obvious bugs are encountered. I am not sure how anyone can forget the last four years? Of course there are going to be problems. That is not pessimism. That is an outlook based on hard facts. The event they just hosted was also full of bugs. Every video i have watched since has had bugs. Jorg is not going to a big event due to the release, and he just said a lot of work is left. Are we even going to get a beta before launch? So my expectations are that this will not release in very good shape. It will get there. Again, great product. Great team. But this is a very ambitious project and this version will touch all aspects of the sim. It will almost certainly be pretty rough out of the gates. That isn’t pessimism. That is being realistic.

I love this product but my expectations are tempered for the first few months. This thing is revolutionary imo but my expectations are lowered for the initial release. I would rather be pleasantly surprised when things go incredibly smooth instead of being disappointed that it was released prematurely and in a broken state.

A few of us pointed out the obvious and the hate was over the top. I won't forget the way the community treated people for that.

What was pointed out and how was that responded to with hate? If folks pointed out there'd be day 1 server load issues then I'm pretty sure most would not have objected to it, because yes that's an obvious possibility.

If those using the tech alpha pointed out about the ground quality (that was a big complaint I remember) and some other stuff, then they were rightly responded to saying that the tech alpha doesn't have the full ground details and other missing features (intentionally), which the release does. If such responses were delivered with "hate" well ya that's not cool, but I believe any strong responses would've been to hyperbole which also sprung up during the tech alpha.

I made the decision to only install MSFS 2024 a couple of weeks after release, and also keep 2020 until all add-ons important to me are made compatible or native to 2024... but thankfully I don't feel the urge to keep gloating about these day 1 issues or make fun of those who uninstalled 2020 and installed 2024 on day 1 🤷‍♂️

Now, please!

This is a disaster, and there is no excuse for this.

And there is no need for anyone to explain or provide pro tips.

I was one of those who thought they get it done until today. I was so wrong!

LOL I really don't think it is that bad. Sure, most people can't load the sim but these guys will sort it out. I am not upset about it. I really hate being right on this one, but it isn't too damaging. A lot of people are upset but I just think it is a game. Get over it!

You know the team was (and is) working around the clock to get things sorted. Going to be a rough holiday season for many!

Go read the original thread and comments from Abriael. That guy was triggered.

looks like you’re trying to quietly drop the tech alpha link in favour of a general ‘Ha! I said there would be problems!’

I don’t think you get any unique insight kudos for speculating there might be problems on the launch day of a new product with a new and unique infrastructure. Did you get any big disagreements on your Kassandra-level prediction when you originally posted it?

MS/Asobo has left major issues hanging over the holidays in the past with 2020.   We will probably get a patch if needed before the holidays - but once the Xmas comes near if the past is any indication it may be after Jan 1st before anything major gets worked on again.

Just about every community.

A lot game launches have these day 1 issues. Which is why a lot of folks recommend people do not take the day of the launch off. Take the next day.

I used to play World of Warcraft, and sure enough every expansion the servers keel over day one. And sure enough the folks on the forum vent their spleens over it.

I didn't really expect I'd be able to fly today. I also didn't expect to be stuck in a queue for 3 hours either.

As Vonnegut would say, "And so it goes."
