November 20, 20241 yr Doing my first airliner flight in the A330, a short delivery flight from EDHI to EDDF. Used SimBrief to plan (haven't checked out the built-in planner yet). Imported the planned payload and fuel through the EFB without any issues. The sim crashed, however, when I tried to import the SimBrief flight plan in the MCDU. Now on my second attempt, after entering the flight plan manually. The A330 flew the AMLUH 9W SID out of EDHI without any issues, respecting the 220 knot speed restriction. All of the auto flight modes that I've tried so far work as they should. The captain's and co-pilot's MCDUs are independent, but the third MCDU is non-functional. The aircraft position gets displayed in the (external) Navigraph Charts out of the box, as with MSFS 2020. I'm currently in the climb, and the flight looks trouble-free so far. If these initial impressions hold up, I can see myself using the A330 regularly. From what I've seen so far, it definitely seems "VATSIM-compatible".
November 20, 20241 yr It is working fine in my location in Sweden now (finally). And I must say that this sim is low and slow paradise!! I have been hunting moose and dispersing herds of cows and zipping between haybales in my Top Rudder 103. Ultra settings (1080p 4070 super) with 60 fps and not a single stutter. This is so much fun!! 😀

Do you need to go to a specific location, or do they spawn randomly all over the place? Definitely agree on the "low and slow paradise". I've done some VFR career flights so far, and the scenery is very satisfying. Need to do a direct comparison with MSFS 2020, but I feel as if the texturing on fields and meadows is also more detailed.
November 20, 20241 yr Alright. I figured out how to set my controls for the A321. The inibuild plane has simbrief integration so I was able to take off within 5 minutes. Plane flew fine? No issues. I like the new clouds/weather. Scenery looks great. My performance has smoothed out getting solid 60fps with a mix of high/ultra settings @ 1440p. And I have restarted the sim a few times and nil issues getting back in.

I flew south of ESMS down to the baltic coast and was testing season setting and there they were 🙂 They are running away when you aproach, really cool! The moose were in a herd too, not very realistic but it is a flightsim, not a moose sim 🙂 (Edit for spelling) Edited November 20, 20241 yr by DunRingill

My first flight with the A330 (EDHI to EDDF) was similar. The overall experience was nice. VNAV in the descent was spot-on; I started the descent a bit late, so I was 1500 feet above profile; the aircraft went to the top of the speed bracket and regained the profile without any issues. Got some very nice cloud layers in the descent; not sure if I just got lucky, but I don't remember seeing anything similar in MSFS 2020 in a long time. For a default aircraft, the A330 is very solid. I don't have the Aerosoft A330, and I don't see myself getting it either.
November 20, 20241 yr Forgot to say: I did a flight around SACO, ground textures were as awful as in 2020, even with TLOD=400. The problem must be in either anisotropic filtering settings or just lack of resolution of source images. If it's the latter, any way to fix this? November 20, 20241 yr Installed. Two days. Works for the most part (in other words, I've had several CTDs inexplicably - mostly loading missions.) I've hit as much of the sim as I can Free Flight, Missions, Career, Challenges, Certifications, License tests (3, including Rotor), Free Flight. Have not done any in the Photography area. Haven't done MUCH at large airports yet or with lots of high settings, air traffic, etc. I bought the $99 version. Wishing I had bought the $69 version. Not seeing the additional value but there are a few more helicopter options (and that's my specialty). I suspect the free add-ons available at the usual places would be just as good. Control mapping was horrid and lots of frustration figuring out very poorly explained controls, especially with respect to helicopters. Shame we could not import control settings from 2020. That will frustrate a LOT of users to the point they will quit the game and give it bad reviews. An Asobo weakness is English as a second language. Anything language related is sub-par. November 20, 20241 yr I will say that Photogrammetry sucks and makes the sim look HORRID the closer you get to the ground (which is all we will do in certain flight modes like Firefighting, Search & Rescue, etc. Helicopter operations. It was fine in 2020 because you didn't get too close to the ground. But below 200 feet, this sim looks HORRID.
November 20, 20241 yr Scenery sucks in late Fall in real life and in ms24. Not in the Spring. I love the PG. Take off from London City EGLC and turn left at the Thames. Trees look like trees, not like green triangles as in ms2020. Houses look like buildings, not like impressionist painting. FPS is down a little from 2020. But not by much. Assigning commands to controllers is easier (I had to learn how to do that in the Alpha). I don't know how BlackSquare is going to make their Dog and Cat copilots lips move while speaking to ATC (LOL). 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 20, 20241 yr I downloaded 2024 in 15 minutes this afternoon, got stuck at 97% so exited and restarted and within 5 minutes was in 2024 playing about with settings. I have not got to the stage of flying much yet as I want to learn more about hardware settings etc from here or YouTube over the weekend. My ease of installing was probably due to waiting until today, very fast Internet access (Starlink) and possibly my VPN (ExpressVPN) which whilst normally is set for UK I choose Madrid for a quicker installation. November 20, 20241 yr Don Emilio Airport region, South America. Nothing so scenic in ms2020 like this. I found this region by typing "fauna" into the search box. November 20, 20241 yr I like the 737 Max 8 but it has no passenger cabin and pales in comparison to iFly's masterpiece which I can't wait for it to be ported over. Edited November 20, 20241 yr by lenny777 Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb
