Is this MSFS2024 anything other than a MS Moneygrab?

its halarious people are rage melting down over a poor MS product launch. Have any FS titles ever launched acceptable out of the box? NO!  Ive been here since FS 95, and dont ever recall using the new version until at least 1 yr after launch. Look at 2020 , it became decent about a yr in and still needed countless updates into 2024.  Go back to 2020 enjoy it, its polished works well, has Tons of amazing addons to enjoy while 2024 is being fixed.

I have no interest in getting into a mud slinging match but this is just utter nonsense.

So because there's never been a positive release of any sort by this company people should just roll over, pay their money and keep their complaints to themselves?

Would it be too much trouble to ask for one release that went well? Heck, is asking for two a bridge too far? People are well within their rights to "rage" as you say because for too long they've handed over money and felt hard done by. Its not just with the sim either. People settle for mediocrity far too easily, everywhere. It feels like these large companies know this only too well.

You wouldn't buy a car with no wheels and no windscreen and wait for the manufacturer to update you down the line. It would also be unbelievable for people to think you weren't within your rights to complain.

The fact that 2020 servers are taking a hit because of this is inexcusable and Microsoft deserve all the negativity coming their way for it, until they earn the respect too many on here are far too quick to give out.

Yeah they make a great sim but this time, prove it.

  • I'd say the tessellation improvements for sure.  I don't think they had support for the much higher resolution of runways, taxiways, ramps etc.  The ground up close is so much better, grass, auto gene

  • I would assume Ryan considered “troll” because only 47 posts AND your Hyperbolic  Headline concerning “Money Grabs”.  I assume you work for a living?  Bills to pay?  Kids to raise?  Sound like you?  W

  • Because people come here or lurk here for years with hardly any contributions... and then they wait for moments like this (this sim had a bad launch its no lie)... and come out with a post like this -

literally you can see the 'quests' on youtube streams then simply do them in 2020... but in free flight so i could at any point go a different way and end up miles away....

Well, you could do that in MSFS 2024 as well, but with better visuals and a better flight model. Just a suggestion😁

No and ASOBO haven't either, when you are playing the little gamey side quests and not in free flight, at that point it just streams what you need for that quest, hence better FPS.

You keep posting things without knowing what you are talking about. The "gamey side quests" (missions) are auto generated. The rocks/trees/fields/etc are generated via AI. Stop spreading false information.

Yes, and, point still stands they are not open world, at that point it just uses what it needs, free flight is open world as you can literally go anywhere at that point.... its a great way of doing it, but its not open world... this is as old as the hills this and has been talked about for decades.

OK help me out here, on these side quests can you fly to a different place without the game telling you your doing it wrong? Genuine question.

Also the way i fly as a casual flightgamer is i take off and just roam around where ever i fancy. Why would i hobble myself with being told where to go?

Unless I misunderstood you, you were saying the rocks and other high detailed objects are only available in the "gamey side quests". This is free flight. I chose some random location in Europe. The colors are off because I run in HDR. This is all auto-generated. You cannot find this kind of detail in 2020.

Whatever suits you. But you are seriously missing out on a sim that is, even in its current state, the best I have ever played.

I don't believe i am though, 2 hours in MSFS 2020 last night, hadn't played it much in the last few months as got hooked to ETS and ATS (truck sims). Now those truck sims, even though not best looking, they know how to get you addicted. I won't get the worth out of MSFS 24, so much i've not done in 800 hours of MSFS 2020.

I mean, I personally don't care if you change sims or not, but if you aren't using 2024 yet you shouldn't be going into every thread talking about how it works when you don't understand how it works. The road textures are bad because the satellite imagery in that area is low res. If I get up close to those mountains, they will have similar details to the rocks because the AI they use to populate what is basically high-res autogen knows that they are mountains. It's not perfect but it's a lot more detailed than 2020.

Does it matter at 20,000ft? No. But it matters for bush pilots. It matters for simulating emergency landings in fields. And it's one area where 2024 is significantly more detailed than 2020.

Edit: I just saw you're also hooked by ETS and ATS... it's funny that you're giving 2024 flak for "gamey" elements when it is basically taking a page out of the ETS and ATS book. 2020 would be like driving around in ETS/ATS with no purpose or "pretending" to drop off cargo. 2024 gives you the same kind of "missions" you have in ETS/ATS.

I don't think I've ever gone as high as 20000ft, I just roam around 2020 sight seeing. If i wanted to walk around in a game i'd pick GTA or fall out etc.

Just seen that its 33 percent off on instant gaming so might purchase the base game for 40 quid when in a couple of weeks and by that point I'll have my new PC. For 40 quid i can't really go wrong. Or if i get the base game will people still say i'm missing out?

Yeah, if you can run the sim. Even Randazzo says he can’t get the platform to work.

This debacle, this day of infamy in flight sim history, is partially your fault, Bert.

I tried to organize an Occupy Redmond Three protest prior to the sim launch to try and address these issues.

Given that you are a veteran of Occupy Redmond One back in ‘12 I thought I might have your support, but when I turned up at MS HQ I was pretty much on my own.

So the complaints that you read on Avsim now are pretty much on you and the other OG Avsim  “Occupy” crew. People who had the power to change things, but chose to stand idly by and do nothing.

Whatever happened to “Solidarity Forever”??

LOL, sorry about that! I had other obligations. You have a very good memory by the way😁
