Walk around mode, how to move faster?

Featured Replies

I found out how to crouch, but how do you run or move faster? tried shift per usual but that did not work. any other walk-around controls that work?

Do not know. What I would like to know is how to bypass walk-around mode and go straight into the cockpit cold and dark. I will be more interested in walk-around mode when more of the aircraft I fly are compatible with walk-around and doorway entry.

Can you walk around anywhere you land or is it just at the airport before flight?

You can walk around anywhere you fly. Just open the door and go!

apparently the answer is 'space bar' however i have not tried it yet

It came unbound for me. Search and bind 'set run', I used Shift. Now I can run but it still is kind of slow.

What did you expect? A human's running speed is not that fast. If you want explore faster you have to use the drone camera like before. 😉

Nope. Once you are airborne, you cannot exit the aircraft.

But you can exit while the aircraft is moving on the ground and the aircraft can take off with you on the ground. I believe this will be fixed in the next updates.

Only when you're wearing a parachute.🙃

The whole point of the external excursion, is to simulate the pilot's inspection of the plane, if you'd ever done one IRL you'd know that they are a slow and careful circuit of the plane, looking carefully at things. So "running" or more rapid movement isn't the point.

I actually kinda like it now that I've done it a bit. Oh, and you can end it and enter the cockpit at any point, just SHIFT-C. Do be careful that you've removed any critical items like chocks and pitot tube covers though 🙂

I noticed for instance, that the Inibuilds A330 actually had things to remove, while the PMDG 737 did not, so it pays to check.

if you've ever actually flown planes irl then you'd know that's a silly statement as you absolutely need to be able to walk fast when outside the cockpit. when checking the oil and you get it all over your hands and you have to run to get a fresh towel before it gets all over your clothes. or the fuel truck is driving by and you have to chase after it because the driver refuses to look over at you. or ATC made you go around 3 times in a row and your bladder is about to burst so you have to book it to the side of the hangar as soon as you land or else you'll explode.

those are only a few reasons you'd need to move at a slightly higher-than-average pace while outside the cockpit 😉

I too want them to get running working! That, and for the love of mike, give us the ability to skip the walkaround! I don't want to do that every single time I start at a gate

Many of us have been there, done that, innumerable times!  What I don't like is having the sim start and bruise my nose with the aircraft I have selected.  Walk arounds are done when you have strolled from the car to the flight ops, completed any pre-flight planning and flight filing not done before leaving for the field, and then strolling out to the plane to start the walkaround.

This starting with the plane literally touching your nose and in-your-face is ridiculous, and embarrassing.  It cracked a lens on the left side of my sunglasses yesterday.  🥸

But if they fix it how do we roleplay one of the best airshow act endings ever? 😄
