I made those water masks much faster. Previously they were evaluated at 8192x8192 pixels when the user was flying at the full 30cm resolution. This was just too slow and had insane memory requirements.I lowered that resolution, as the NASA source data does not even come close to that fidelity. As a result, memory usage is down and watermasks generation has become almost unnoticably quick. As a nice side effect, one can now choose much larger water masks, say 1500 meters. Screenshots of Rottnest Island with this particular setting are in the screenshots forum.

Thanks Christian! Yesterday, i tried it with my hometown (no water) and the new TP worked (30cm), even with Vista64 (medium lod radius and locked frames) :)What is a good setting for cache_bytes_limit and cache_tiles_limit with 4GB ram?And yes, your water masks are great - Lord Howe Island:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185461.jpg:)(there is a good freeware scenery in the Avsim library with mesh and accurate coastlines, which is a good basis).I only have to play with the color of the water.

4GB RAM? Holy moly. The RAM cache istn't really all that useful unless you fly in circles ;) But anyway, you can easily permit it 1 GB or more. Just append a 0 to each of the numbers and you should be good to go.Christian

Thanks, Christian!I just installed the latest version of TP ("final update") and it's really amazing how fast it loads and everything was sharp.Really brilliant!! :)There is only one problem on my system with the water:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/185525.jpgPerhaps because of DX10?I'm using FEX and DX10 mode with water settings @maximum.

ChristianI wanted to take this moment to thank you for such a wonderful gift you are developing and giving the community. Tile proxy is a very cool option and for those that wish to have the environment portray as realistically as possible, your efforts are an awesome alternative.I also use your creation from time to time and I sincerely thank you for the time you have put into it.

No, my fault. A version without these problems will be available soon.As a temporary workaround, set alpha_min to 0. That gives more reflective water, but without these boundaries.

Thanks, would you know where one could get more exact vector coast lines for regions other than USA and Europe?I found the vector data for the Carribean (and some Australian) islands to be pretty inaccurate. Incorrect shore line vectors resulted in terrain flattens that would cut mountains in half. Also the breaking waves at the shores were in the weirdest places. I would like to know how to fix it - even if it means shelling out some money for payware.A basic workaround could be to convert the SRTM data into a new set of global vectors, but that would take ages...Christian

Hi ChristianNo sir, I sure don't and I see your dilemma with that. I will ask around though and if anything comes up I will toss it your way.

Thanks, Christian, i will try that!Made a small Video of my last TP flight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jydjhp4NbC0Unfortunately youtube robs a lot of the image quality. But it shows at least that TP works now with Vista (64).PS: nice shots in the german blablaforum ;)My next flight will be over french polynesian atolls :)For Lord Howe: move that under your TP world definitions in the scenery library: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=104609 and the coastlines etc. will fit.

There are tricks to get better quality out of youtube. I think uploading a 640x480 WMV clip encoded with relatively high bit rate leads to good results.

That's what i did, but it didn't helped. I guess it's because of the file size (63MB).Here a test with Lord Howe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs-j9BKSH0EI registered at Stage6 (uploads aren't working ATM^^) and Vimeo (strange..). I hope i will get there better results, if they are working...
