I'm not switching to FS2024 until the following happens...

Featured Replies

I'm not switching to 2024 until:

There is Option to start free flight in the cockpit cold and dark, no requirement to walk around and do things first.

There is ability to download specific aircraft and scenery to my computer.

Ability to disable marketplace items such as custom scenery, addon airports, aircraft..

Issues with community folder location are fixed.

ALL server and streaming problems are fixed, and EVERYTHING loads completely and quickly.

Maybe a month?

  • I've just had the most spectacular flight in the PMDG738 and I asked myself the question... why would I bother replacing this with 2024 in it's current state? I'm with the OP, I'm happy to move across

  • I doubt if any of that is going to be fixed in a month.

  • This can be done already. On the world map pick a spot that is not a parking spot (I.e. not a white dot). You’ll spawn out or in cockpit, cold and dark, without any preflight items required.

I think you won't be switching any time soon then...

What issues?

For most of the top irritants I doubt we will see significant progress in at least 1 year. This is based on the average lead time to deal with bugs in msfs 2020, the amount of issues introduced in 2024 (and some are not glitches but actually design decisions) and the habit of creating new ones when solving another.

The Community folder can be changed in the Marketplace/My Library settings

The second and third on your list will probably come when the market place opens.

Servers are getting better each day since launch.

I don’t know what community folder issue is…

But, there you go see you in 2024 soon! 😘

This wish is already fulfilled. Walkarounds are done when the airplane is started on the parking lot or terminal, and you sit in the running cockpit with running engines when you start on a runway. 🙂

I've just had the most spectacular flight in the PMDG738 and I asked myself the question... why would I bother replacing this with 2024 in it's current state? I'm with the OP, I'm happy to move across to 2024, but it needs to be sorted. I don't need to experience all the angst and headaches of things not working and bugs and issues everywhere. Life is too short! In the meantime, I wish those who have moved to 2024 all the very best, I hope things continue to improve. Once they have, then maybe I'll join you.

Sure, most of your points are already available.

I said in a thread a couple months ago that I planned to wait at least 3 months before buying FS2024.

Based on what I'm seeing in this forum the launch is even worse than I thought it would be so now I'm thinking more like 6 months.

Just not worth the hassle when FS2020 is perectly flyable and still impressive.

My plan before the release is still sound, enjoy the new features of 2024 until PMDG 738 and Comanche 100% compatible, then leave 2020.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

I want to buy it but I'm getting conflicting reports of what works and what doesn't

I had a similar plan, but the flight model alone convinced me to take the plunge and uninstall 2020.

I’ll just grow with it!

Consider it an adventure.

Exactly. So far, I haven't been outside the plane walking ever. It always starts me inside. It's what I choose to do. There is no marketplace nor its associated content manager. There will be soon. Ever since 2024 came out, I haven't missed 2020 and haven't flown it. I'm in the minority, and the reviews on Steam prove that. I'm very happy about the whole thing.
