The ability to download specific aircraft is not totally necesarry, as long as enough files of them get stored in the rolling cache or somewhere else that they don't have to be streamed in completely, can be modded and painted, yet don't clutter up disk space. I mean for the FENIX alone I have 8Gig of Liveries installed, that's quite the overkill for one aircraft, but it is what it is. Therefore I'd like the core files to stay streamed and only absolutely necesarry files stored. Edited November 23, 20241 yr by Farlis

Based on what I'm seeing in this forum the launch is even worse than I thought it would be so now I'm thinking more like 6 months. Just not worth the hassle when FS2020 is perectly flyable and still impressive. Not sure what people now are complaining about. I downloaded and installed S2024 without any issue. About 15 mins max. So far, it's been smooth as a baby as@!#, It took me a little while to figure out how to setup and bind my flight stick and pedals, but I'm enjoying discovering what the new sim offers. I think people are going to complain and hate no matter what. Right now I'm just waiting for developers to update their products to the new sim, but in the meantime, I still have 2020 installed which worked out great being able to start both sims at the same time and coping all my settings over to S 2024. The worse has been poor textures during the first and second day; today all streamed very well and the sim has been butter smooth since day 1 for me, and I have a max 50 Mb connection. I think there has been a lot of overreaction from the issues experienced the first day or two. I do not see any fundamental issues with the sim. It takes time to get used to; the keyboard layout is different, the options have changed, it is different but given a little time and some patience it will be a great sim. The next big step is for the market place to open and for us to be able to download scenery locally which will help with the streaming. For those that just want to fly stay with 2020 for a while but be excited for a better and more capable sim in a few months. Actually that's what they are aiming for. No on can accuse Team Asobo of not working hard to get things corrected. The lead Dev is working the forums - on a Saturday, no less, after what must be a grueling few weeks for them. Just posted in the dev forum by Eric Pellissier -project lead for Asobo: "Yes, “My Library” will allow to download an aircraft (or any other package) locally to avoid having to stream it. I am not 100% sure on the ETA but I think it should be before Christmas. Of course we initially planned to have this option available for launch but didn’t manage to achieve it - apologies for the inconvenience. Additionally He says: "I’ll have to check with the team in charge (obviously I can’t right now since it’s Saturday) but I believe My Library will allow you to activate/deactivate packages - so in case you have two add-ons covering the same airport, it will allow you to choose the one you want to use." Will it be an optional for our customers to download an aircraft locally? Edited November 23, 20241 yr by irocx Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. November 23, 20241 yr When I buy (this, as an aged pensioner with limited income is a financial issue and it is not a BUGS issue) I will also be buying a 4TB SSD and house 2020 and 2024 on the same drive, partitioned. I have to admit that I am impressed with the trailers I have seen but then again, I was also impressed with 2020 trailers and look at where that got me LOL However, I also have to admit that I would really like to be in the game, so to speak, and not leave it to others to sort out my problems for me. I like to feel that, in some limited way, I could contribute to the problem solving. I just think that opting out certainly weeds out some frustrations, but those same frustrations really increase the pleasure when you sort it out or learn from someone else solving the problem, I don't think either way is wrong ... I just know which option I would be taking. I am really looking forward to being able to play this sim of the future and hope to enjoy it as much as 2020 which will definitely NOT be uninstalled. After what I discovered today, regarding the Asobo servers impacting performance, since my FS 2020 suddenly was almost unusable (which turned out to be a server issue) , I am now aware how Asobo's servers can easily make or break the sim. So anyone seeing your FPS going into the dumpster, try changing the server you are using.
November 23, 20241 yr I tend to fly the same type of travels she does, but also in cities, and longer. To me 2024 shows me what she sees: everything is nicer and like she says around the 9 minute mark, the lighting. Things look more real. Of course this is the type of low down travel where scenery becomes more important and shows off 2024 to better advantage. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
