Fenix is now compatible with MSFS 2024 (with 4x sim rate!)

It's likely that Fenix were able to port their add-on to MSFS 2024 faster because they are using an external flight model and external process.  I have read reports that A2A's Comanche also works well in MSFS 2024 even though A2A didn't release any patches to convert the Comanche to MSFS 2024, probably because A2A is also using an external flight model that is less tied to the MSFS SDK (but I don't think A2A is using an external process anymore because they are selling their Comanche on XBox, and I believe the XBox sandbox does not allow an external process to run).

Well so just to be clear Fenix uses external systems code and has its own custom (i.e. not based on the sim FDE) engine simulation, flare logic, etc. But as Aamir has said before (see https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/636158-accusim-2-level-of-flight-dynamics-in-msfs-2024/page/4/#comment-4990988) parts of their FM is based on the FDE too. I am assuming they had an easier time of it than PMDG since they are not heavily WASM based like PMDG is.

A2A does do everything external to the FDE but it's still "in sim" and not in an actual external process. Initially their audio handling was in an external process but that's now in sim too, in order to get on the marketplace.

  • Also, I like how on one hand, you have PMDG blaming Asobo (as usual) for everything and throwing a tantrum because they can't release for 2024. Then yet again Fenix just 1-ups them immediately and rel

Eh, I trust PMDG that MS didn't ship the C++WASM code. That said, I also think the legacy code base for PMDG is really starting to catch up to them with the issues they had with SU15 and now MSFS24.

Fenix using external code really helped them.

^This.

I believe PMDG too when they said for MSFS 2024, the MSFS team "forgot to include the developer tools needed by C++/WASM developers C++/WASM developers."  Having said that, PMDG is using a lot of legacy code.  They were comically slow for the EFB because Randazzo refused to rewrite the EFB with Javascript/HTML (which I believe FBW and Fenix used for their EFB) and instead wanted to reuse older C++ code for the EFB that they used for the P3D version of their EFBs.  From the beginning, if Randazzo was willing to do the EFB with Javascript/HTML, they probably would have ended up releasing the EFB around the same time, or probably even earlier than when they finally released it.  Now it's possible that Javascript/HTML for the EFB simply does not work with the rest of the C++ code for PMDG's planes, but I doubt that, since I see a lot of other developers using Javascript/HTML for the EFB and they also use C++ for the rest of the plane.

Having said that, Fenix's external process, and A2A's external flight model, seems to have made it so that those planes have converted over to MSFS 2024 faster. In A2A's case, they haven't officially released a conversion for MSFS 2024, but people are using the MSFS 2020 Comanche in MSFS 2024 and they are saying it flies well in 2024.

Did anyone actually got it working? Because for me it installed well, however in MSFS, I get absolutely no power or anything. I can click the switches, but they are not lighting up.

Yup, already had it up in the air from cold & dark, works great.

Though I did have some sporadic issues with sounds in cockpit, like from switches etc. that would randomly stop working.

Had this too. Start the Fenix app manually.

Works fine here. Make sure the plane actually loads by the Fenix interface.

This was the only thing missing for me with the FENIX, and I’m super excited about it!

me too. I have 3 little kids so this is a HUGE deal for me.

still no weather radar

Someone else said that MSFS 2024 now has a working tilt function on their default WX radar (Can anyone else confirm this?). This would massively improve the usability of the default WX and should in my opinion be enough for Fenix to just use that.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Great job Amir and team Fenix

If you are on Steam, have you been able to get the plane to load?  Every time I hit fly, I get CTD.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong but I am only able to get the default cessna and occasionally the default A330-300 to load.  I can't even get the default A319 or 20s to load.
