Whereas 2020 you would get an offline message and continue your flight in '24 your flight will pause until you re-establish your connection. You can't disconnect. This is an absolute deal breaker for me. What was a minor inconvenience is now a sim stopper. Not sure if this will change when they introduce the concept of a "library" but for now if you are in the middle of a flight and your connection drops FS will pause and the flight will not resume until you resume it manually. Show stopper for long haulers! So, I was finally able to test out unplugging the internet itself. It works fine when you reconnect. It doesn't lose your flight. That's the good news. I was able to do a test flight in the FNX and that worked just fine also. As far as the sim here were the take aways: 1. The surrounding terrain immediately (within 10 miles) of the aircraft was extremely blurry. I started at KONT and looked north towards the mountains, and they were very blurry. They looked glassy and not sharp. Setting the LOD out to 400 from 200 had to impact. This is a major regression from 2020. 2. RWY lights are still on during the day. 3. Free flight world menu often CTDs. Can't pin down what the exact cause is. Sometimes you click on an aircraft or livery and it CTDs. 4. Sometimes you can't enter the aircraft. 5. Sometimes you can't ESC to the main menu. 6. Sepia mask is still present in night lighting. The concept of individual lights like they have down low is NOT present at altitude. This was supposed to be fixed for the new sim. 7. Taxi way lights are very bloomy at night thus making them appear very large. Overall airfield lighting is very bad. This is also a major regression from 2020. 8. Airfield taxi way lighting can be seen from over 20NM away from your position. (There is a big thread on night lighting in the MS forums). 9. Can't separate historical weather from time in free flight. 10. Aircraft naming (variant/livery) menus appear to make it seem like your planes are not present anymore. You have to click on the last livery to see all the other liveries. 11. Default navdata did not have approaches for ANY RWY at OTHH. Pretty sure even NavBlue/DLH has data for that airport. 12. Clouds are pretty much the same as they were in 2020 (pixelated-maybe a tad better in some instances). Only plus is the addition of "cirrus". I use that in quotes for a reason. Actual cloud types do not exist in the sim due to the rendering engine is my guess. 13. No real performance improvements for me from 2020. Not necessarily a bad thing though. 14. Seasons are incorrectly timed. Here in KC the leaves just started turning around the middle of NOV. The sim has them set for OCT. I believe they are also not correctly localized for the fauna types like they had planned. 15. Walkaround needs to go away or at least be an option in free flight arena and be an option in career mode. Not only is a great big pain, but it's an overall BAD look for the sim in general when you load in with your face right up against the fuselage. Would be very confusing for a new user to figure out what to do. It's also just looks bad for the initial loading of the sim. These were just off the top of my head. I suspect a lot of these issues are due to streaming services. The good: (for users that aren't experiencing validation or install issues) 1. Loading times are excellent. 2. ini builds did a great job on default aircraft. I had real doubts, but I think they pulled it off in a short time frame. Granted they're still default, but a hundred times better than what we used to get. The A400 is actually the standout. Really well done on that one. The PC12 is another really great one. WT did awesome on the avionics and the plane hand flies great. Only take-away is taxiing around at Mach 2...lol. That needs to be fixed as well as the PC24 just not working at all. Now having said all that, this is still a new sim, and everyone is going to have to go through the same setup stuff with their controls and views, etc., like they did before. No way around that. The good news is it pretty much works the same as 2020 when all is said and done. I think it will quite some time before these little kinks get ironed out. They will need to at least double or triple what they think they need in terms of servers to ensure ALL Services can be streamed to ALL users SIMULTANEOUSLEY. Bottom line is that were in for the same time frames as we aware for any other new sim release to get things fixed. As far as 3PD sceneries and aircraft. Good news is that there are already a ton of 2024 ready sceneries and we already have the FNX out. This is about all I think of right now...lol. I'm sure there's much more. In the end, I think we'll all be just fine, just like before. Edited November 26, 20241 yr by Jeff Nielsen Jeff D. November 27, 20241 yr Author So further investigation show I don't have any issue at any of these airports (including KCVG now as well) IF I start on the runway. HOWEVER. if I taxi towards some of the buildings I get a CTD. Very Strange. I welcome any thoughts...

Go to Windows log and application, look for any RED ERRORS, then look up the info to find a solution.
